Quoted from ArcadiusMaximus:

So that being said, had anyone reverse engineered this thing? It's just a node board with some LEDs right? Couldn't one theoretically be built?

Possibly one of the off-the-shelf node boards? or better still, reverse engineer the protocol?

Quoted from MustangPaul:

and I've heard that the flasher contacts on that flasher can short out on that metal scoop. I put a couple layers of electrical tape on the back of it to prevent that.

That is true. I thought I read that Stern did a change to that area at some point to address that issue, but not 100% sure.

You don't really want to prevent airballs from getting stuck on the library...you want to prevent the airballs. There are several protectors or stand-up brackets out there. I use Modfather's protectors, but most work equally well. You can find a list of other adjustments you should make further back in the thread.

Thanks, will check and good thinking!
Modfather protectors were already ordered and are on their way

Personal preference, but I don't like the air ball protectors. Another option are the Swinks' (Stern) Target Brackets:

Thanks, will try if protectors are not my taste.

Last noob question of the day: the ball does not get out the subway ramp on my premium. It stays at the bottom akd then is ejected.
Not enough velocity to climb up it seems. Any idea on how to solve it? It's not gotten up once so far.

First, make sure the machine is perfectly leveled and the pitch is correct. If the subway still doesn’t work, lift up the playfield and find where the subway goes
underneath. You will see a thin metal bracket around the clear plastic subway area held with a nut. Loosen the nut, make sure the bracket and ramp are perfectly centered and nothing is obstructing the ball’s path, and tighten the nut. You may need to experiment a bit until you find the position that works best.

Good luck! Hope this helps.

Dead on!

Looked for that bracket and actually the ramp was not correctly set in it.
I guess that's when the distro installed the playfield protector.
Put it back where it should be: climbing up the ramp!

Thanks

So the game has been cleaned, all new titans, Craig from Fun cleaned up the inserts and everything. If all goes well I'll have her here tomorrow night.

Is there any way to even out the playfield dimpling? I'm guessing it doesn't look so bad from the player's pov but still...

The more you play it the more it will even out. GB did seem to dimple pretty bad but unless you are in perfect lighting and looking for it you wont even notice it so its not a bug deal.

Quoted from seenev:

It does look pretty rough. Although I hope it doesn't cause a problem but I think Ghostbusters is the most common one that has dimpling. This game has a LOT of plays, way more than days I've been alive at 38.

But normally I wouldn't have been able to afford this game, it's WAAAAAAAAAY out of my price range. One friend said I should be ashamed for what I got this for. But hopefully I enjoy it. I've always enjoyed it on location but have never been able to play it in a domestic setting.

Dimpling just means don’t be afraid to play it more!

#6078 4 years ago
Quoted from gunstarhero:

It's only a year or so old, albeit routed, but its still better than "players condition" although nowhere near HUO and most HUO still have the dimpling.

#6079 4 years ago

I've owned this game for almost two months and it's definitely growing on me. The first month was brutal, it was kicking my ass and pissing me off. I've gotten better and now it reminds me of Iron Man (from a difficulty standpoint) with more shots to shoot at and deeper code. It still pisses me off but I keep hitting the start button. If only I didn't brick so many left ramp and left orbit shots...

#6080 4 years ago

It really is the most brutally unforgiving pin I have played, but if it were super easy would there really be a reason to keep playing? I love the challenge...I just wish I understood the scoring more. In time that should happen.

Pretty much all games have dimples, hell mine is a HUO under a year old and it's covered with em. Screw it. Press the start button and add a few more!

I know they all have dimples. My HUO gb is quickly accumulating dimples. I'm just wondering if it really does even out after a while or if it just gets worse.

I am pretty certain the only way to get rid of the problem is to cake the whole playfield in clear coat, then sand that down flat and polish. Probably something NOBODY has done with their playfield.

And I plan on playing the hell out of it.

Quoted from seenev:

It may not even out totally flat but it definitely starts looking better eventually i can assure you. Just don't worry about it and have fun. Its not a museum piece and its meant to be played. I am a super picky person and i take good care of my stuff but these dimples just dont bother me at all. If i have to shine a light on the playfield and look at it at just the right angle to see the dimples, i could care less about them.

#6085 4 years ago

So got a few games in and it's HARD! The dimpling is there, it was a routed game but from the players angle you don't really see it too bad. Unfortunately for my Guardians not too many toys were made that match what's inside. Either Disney Infinity cartoony or expensive polystone statues.

Fortunately for Ghostbusters, they've been making toys and collectibles for so long especially the Mattel line. So I thought the librarian would look good by the Library. We did a mini tournament and Craig destroyed us all.

So this is the gross % earned on my Ghostbusters. We were joking last night at my tournament, “what will happen sooner, a meaningful code update, or my game gets to 100%?”

Before making your guess, some more info. Mine is a very early launch party Ghostbusters. It spent last year in a slightly less busy location, but is back at my main location and I expect it to get to 100% in early 2020.

No those dates are way off.

I just got to we beleive wizard mode and was excited until mas hysteria started. By the time I finished that multiball and had one ball in play, wizard mode had time out or something and I got 11mil for it. Wtf. Code is need. Then I had two balls left in the game and couldn't start a mode no matter how hard I tried.

GB 1.13 was released January 9th in 2017. Their website states 5.25.18 because they moved around their website at that time.

Walking stay puff! Shaker motor, color LCD.

#6098 4 years ago

ColorDMD all the way, shaker is good too, swinks target mod, outlane jump guards... if you’re thinking of more “toys” then I like the molded library, storage facility and firehouse mods.

#6099 4 years ago

Mods
#1 Play-ability mods (pick your liking of center posts, air-ball protector(s)/target inserts, etc.)
#2 ColorDMD
#3 Art blades
#4 Shaker
#5 Pinball Monk Gels! Those really something extra IMO.
