Quoted from Ed209:

Have some strange technician alerts on my LE. Tested switches and everything is fine but they don't seem to clear. The weird thing is the alerts don't match the numbers or names in the manual.
These are the alerts..
Switch #52 left ramp enter (manual says 52 is pop bumper exit)
Switch #65 r. ramp exit (manual says 65 is left bank drop opto)
Switch #92 left ramp 2 (manual has no switch #92 for the LE)
Switch #93 left ramp 3 (manual has no switch #93 for the LE)
Anyone else seeing this on their LE? I also have no credit dot but I seem to remember hearing the complaint that they removed the credit dot with Spike.

Same exact issue on my LE. Was about to post this question. Seems like it can be cleaned up with a code update

Quick question LE owners ... I'm having an issue with auto plunge. About 75% of the time. The ball hits Stay Puft and rattles around up in the corner to finally either drop down the ecto lane or just fall back down the shooter lane. Anyone else? Fixes?

Quoted from steigerpijp:

To put an end to the huge airballs almost hitting me in the nuts I fixed up a quick plastic and used it to fill in the bare area in front of the city.
Not a single airball since!!
This is bound to help a little towards less ghosting I hope without the big hits .[att=3273664,749949 caption=

I'll order one immediately and pay too much and report back with details on the "test" on my LE!
Name the amount via PM!

Thought I'd share a few fixes on two issues I had with my GBLE

Both issues were from the ball coming down the ramps, then dropping to the playfield and spinning up, bouncing once against the inside lane guide, the down the outlane.

Right ramp solution is to add one small square off soft target dead foam. The type that compresses a ton, then takes some time to re-expand again
Left ramp solution was to add 3 small pieces of gorilla tape to inside of wire ramp exit hole. Just enough to slow the ball down ...

Both worked to reduce these drains by 95%+

EDIT SOLVED: See below ...

Still having massive issues with the ball auto launch on my GBLE. See both videos I shot in slow motion. Did some post processing from my android phone to slow it down by 10X

Ball hitting the one way gate - I've even slightly bent the sharp corner of that gate to eliminate as much of this as possible (and ball damage)

Ball hitting the wall behind the gate and dropping back into the shooter lane for "one more try"

EDIT, SOLVED - at least for me. I've tested with 75 consecutive launches and it's perfect!

I'll share what I did:

Slow motion study shows ball hanging up when getting into Staypuft dorner if too far to the LEFT

So ... I did the following and I would recommend them in that order

1) Removed (loosened is a better word) the auto-launch head piece and bent the left fork in to contact the ball at same time as the right. Before I fixed this the right side of the head was contacting just ahead of the left - this may have been 90% of the issue, but the difference was MAYBE 1MM in total - again, who knows.
2) Pulled top one way gate at Staypuft corner, slight bent out the leading corner that ball was hitting, then (on the backside behind the playfield backboard) I added a washer between the backboard and the left screw that holds the one way gate on. This effectively pushes that one way gate to turn more in the direction of the ball travel. That and the bent corner solved my issues.
3) Unscrewed left fork in ball launch ramp (long steel ramp thingy) and shimmed with 2MM shim (thus lifting it slightly to push the ball to the right)
4) Custom cut a plastic (template attached) to guarantee that the ball stays right - not sure yet how big of a role the custom plastic plays yet, thus this is recommended as the last step

Custom plastic notes:
- Must use .093 thickness as it fits perfectly in gap by ramp
- Must bevel leading edge or ball with hit it on way up (5MM bevel)
- Add a piece of target dead foam at end to "bend it out" to guide ball
- Attach to shooter lane (left metal guide) using a small piece of mylar
- If cut to proper height, the new piece will fit UNDER the left purple plastic (except where you purposefully bow it out with the dead foam)

Custom plastic is HERE at this google drive link: (don't use the image below, it's not to scale)

Hope this helps others with the same issue - very frustrating

Thought I'd add to and update my ghosting documentation from the Real Ghostbusters thread here.

Back then I had just one ghosted insert ...

Sad to say today, just a short while later, I'm up to SEVEN total ghosted inserts. I sent an email to Stern more than a week ago.
No response. Not a peep. Dissapointing ...

Quoted from robotron:

check with your fingertip and see if inserts are sinking. probably why its ghosting. mine are all sinking. no answer from stern but trust me they know this is happening.

Tobins is sinking for sure. So is storage facility, you can see the ridge in the photo.
Sending another email now

Thought I'd share how I (finally) fixed my Slimer dragging his butt all over the place.

Below is a link to my first attempt - which is the same fix as the "add a set of washers" fix but I just raised it and tightened the set screw because you don't really have to have the washers. ... his butt still hit in 2 places.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/official-stern-ghostbusters-speculation-thread?tu=mt45#post-3272845

My newest fix involves leaving the "washer raise it up" fix in place because you DO gain height.

Then I saw another Pinside say that he pulled up on the wire on top of the Slimer switch mech/arm and zip tied it. He is correct in that there seems to be about 1/4" or more of "play" so that you can grab that top wire above Slimer and if you gently pull it up, it raises Slimer that amount above the playfield. Now ... to get the wire to stay there.

I could not get the zip tie to stay tight, so I cut a 7/16 post rubber and slipped it around the wire on the top of the mech/switch/arm
Worked like a charm.

I think the Slimer registers side hits a little easier now, but other than that he does NOT rub/drag at all!

First video is with ONLY the "washer raise it up" fix in place - again he still drags
Second video is with the 7/16th rubber in place (see pic for close up of it installed)

Cheap and fast fix!

Dragging Butt

FIXED!!!!

heres what the playfield looks like when you try to move the outlane posts!

Same thing happened to me day one of ownership

Quoted from Mitch:

why mess with raising slimer up more then the 2 washers just remove him and trim the bottom wire on a bench grinder.

Not sure that would have helped mine. The wire never hits at all, it's so low that Slimers side hits first. Did you mean to remove that wire compression fitting on the bottom altogether, then cut the wire shorter and install the compression nut higher? I considered that but wondered if the compression piece would be destroyed when removing it ...

Update to my GBLE Airball fix plastic.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/official-stern-ghostbusters-speculation-thread/page/330#post-3292934

Added some green slime to plastic using white decal paper

Slime template is HERE:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9aPFmNkJCM7U0xIQzVHeE1Lems&usp=sharing

1) Print at full size, with printer setting to photo paper
2) Use exacto knife to trim the slime parts (wow! hard)
3) Trim back end (straight edge) using metal ruler
4) Clean up the "tips" of the slime (you wont be able to perfectly cut them round)
5) Test on plastic
6) Remove backing starting on left orbit edge and work toward middle of plastic

Quoted from rooky79:

Hey this 0.93 Lexan, what's the thickness of that in mm?
I'm getting one cut in 2 mm thick. Is that okay or too thin/thick?
Cheers

That should work, it's just a bit thinner (less than 1/64") than .093 Lexan

2MM is approx 5/64"
.093 is approx 6/64"

Quoted from Enaud:

Are lots of folks having issues with the autolauncher? Mine has been launching the ball into the gate at the top of the playfield. I bent the gate out and also put some washers behind the screw that mounts the gate (so it kinda angles it some more).
That helped some, but I'm still getting too many balls autolaunched into the gate.
I also stretched the spring on the autolaunch coil but that didn't help any that I can tell. I have the playfield at 7 degrees pitch.
Any suggestions?

I had same issue here. see my detailed thread at link. Out of maybe another 100 games or so and literally hundreds of launches, I've only had it happen twice since my fixes. YMMV

Also, make certain that the washers you place behind the backboard are BETWEEN the backboard and the gate frame, not between the gate frame and the screw head.

Quoted from PeterG:

That looks goods, I could not find that version of MT45. Is that still around - or can you share that template? I have one made up myself but still have an occasional airball from the left target.

You can find my template at the link below. BTW, love the modification that TaylorVA did, on my game it does not rub, but I'm not sure you could slide a human hair between it and the ball as it goes up the ramp. TaylorVA's semi-circle cutout completely eliminates that as a potential issue

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/official-stern-ghostbusters-speculation-thread/page/330#post-3292934

Look just a little way down my post for link to the template

#1352 7 years ago
Quoted from TaylorVA:

I modified MT45s version as it seemed like the ball was hitting as it hit the flap.

Nice job TaylorVA. I'm going to change my template to incorporate your semi-circle cut on the reverse. Super idea!
For those that are considering using the template, I should have the new one up this weekend. If you use the old one, just make certain that when you cut the 33MM depth (144MM length section), you cut it tight ...as in 33MM or LESS to avoid any chance of the ball contacting on the way up the ramp.
