Can you see New Richmond OH from where you're sittin? I can, almost.

Good luck with Target Alpha. Get it, goodbye!

#52 5 years ago

I'll trade you EM lessons for a 15 year old steering wheel.

"make it a nice one, and not too expensive"

Good buy?

It doesn't have much effect on the overall image I'm trying to present to the general public, in fact it fits it quite well. It's just not that pleasant on the hands.

Advice: if it ain’t broke, don’t fucking fix it.

If it IS broke, be patient and don’t “fix” 20 things at once or you’ll just make it much, much worse.

Also, whatever is wrong with it, it’s
Probably the latch trip X relays. Good luck with that.

Easily the best advice for anyone getting into EMs.

Gryszzz, Even if a game is 0-5% working, you can be pretty confident that 98%+ of the switches in the game are properly adjusted. All it takes is one slightly dirty switch to sour the whole game. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve “confidently” “repaired” my game, only to make it exponentially worse after “properly” adjusting or cleaning a single switch.

Fret not, though. If the game is running well, or repaired right, it’ll more than likely be more reliable than anything else in your gameroom.

Best part of all is now you are going to get acquainted with Mr. Steve Young and learn how to write personal checks again.

You guys should get along just fine.

Guess what OD I can play both those tracks simultaneously which is what I'm doin right now. Kinda sucks.

#63 5 years ago
Quoted from Gryszzz:

My first EM. Stoked to finally have some bells and chimes ringin round here.
ALL THOSE DROPS WOW..
I know it's not as sexy as El Dorado, but it's not as pricey either.
Will I be ok bringing this back 4 hours in a small trailer? I'll throw 3 layers of carpet padding down but I'm gonna be nervous as hell ridin it back there.
Anyhow looks like there's gonna be a few Target Alphas at Expo. Please death save on Todd's, not mine, thanks.

Will you be getting this pin this weekend??
15 Drop Targets - Check!
Multi player - Check!
Most likely you will not loose any money on it - Check!

Make sure to post the travel selfie, with the pin.

Here's what's goin on tonight

#68 5 years ago

Im about 15 minutes from New Richmond. Was just there last week getting wheel sensor put on my Tundra. Let me know if I can help. Lotsa shady characters down there, watch your step.

#69 5 years ago

WELL LOOKIE THERE!
JJ is one of the coolest cats I know. He'll take care of you and yer raggedy ass steering wheel OD.

Thanks man!

The place is called Lindale, address is 2976 OH-132. The dude's name is Lee. It's the only 2003 Corolla steering wheel they have and it's brown. They want $50. If you are down there and it looks good, tell him you're picking it up for the idiot in Ca. I'll style you up if you'll ship it to me. I just want to make sure it's not beat up like mine.

Gryszzz, buy the cheapest EM that is clean and working, and use the rest for plane fare.

Grzzzzzz head over to Odins place December 14,15,16,17 - we’ll be in the neighbourhood again. I’ll bring the Modelos, Odin has the Jack and I’m sure if we ask him nicely he’ll fire up the Traeger BBQ again and cook us up some sweet as fair ....

And if you’re really lucky I’ll give you a screen door destruction demonstration.

Ooooh always good times at Odins EM Palace!

Quoted from o-din:

First, I messaged the dude with the steering wheel and basically told him "shut up and take my money".

Single player games are more sought after because in most cases all 5 balls add up to one complete game. Complete this, complete that, and light up the special, and then collect the special or specials and hear that knocker go knock knock. I have a couple of single players set on three ball, but it is that same mission.
And none of that build up a bonus and collect it after each ball drains most 70s multiplayers are equipped with. Then start the next ball and do it all over again.
With multiplayer games it is hard for the game to remember where the last player left off except in the score, so resetting the entire thing and starting each ball anew is the easiest solution for that. Very few multiplayers have playfield memory, but Pit Stop is one and a crowd favorite here.

And 1 and 2 player games were cheaper.

Do you think if he tries to carry that steering wheel with him on the plane they will think he's some kind if terrorist?

In theory, 50/50

But then when they actually see him, 95/5 ...

Nice to hear you're coming back though Dave. You can see I did a major garage clean up. First time in five years I moved everything out and sprayed it out top and bottom with a hose. It's almost like you can eat in there now.

I'll certainly fire up Traeger. I believe December is official prime rib month.

Well, I'm not seeing any update on Gryszzz joining the EM nation, but in other news, that steering wheel is on it's way.

#86 5 years ago

OD I am only a week away from admission. Pickin er up at Chicago Expo next Thurs. Pretty doggone stoked about it too.
How did I make it 5 years with NO EM'S???
Time to put an end to that nonsense.

#87 5 years ago

Also...congrats on that pos steering wheel.

#88 5 years ago

Well then, wheel have to see which arrives first.

It wasn't really my intent either to go overboard on the EMs, but it turned into some infectious disease.

I had the same thing happen after I visited Germany in 2013 to play at the IFPA world champs and fell back in love with old pins - solid states and EMs. Although SS definitely take priority here ...

Quoted from Gryszzz:

I heard there's a few Eager Beaver down at the Regal Beagle

Seriously.

Eager Beaver has garnered much more respect and love from the players that come over than Solar City ever did. It not only has a superior art package and theme, but plays faster as well.

And the drop targets not only reset after you knock them all down, but increase in value each time you do so. You won't hit the 500 point plateau very often, or the 400 point one for that matter, but make it to 300 and the center drop lites for extra ball.

All in all having a nice Beaver in any collection is what I call a win.

No, but to get a decent Beaver on the west coast required shipping it in from the east. Most of them I've seen were blown out and worn out. This one is slick and smooth and real fast.

I've worked almost everyday for the last month ending this Friday. So there is always a chance come mid December you might see this sign or something like it when that time comes.

Ok RD, I'll talk to mamma tonight. See if I can't make it for a couple days. With a 2 yr old, goin anywhere is tough. That's why I just stay in my basement, where the beer and the death metal are both ice cold.

Keep in mind that 10-bank of drops is a bitch to work on, the one I'm working on has a bit of a bonus issue too.
