Hey all! New Getaway owner here. I've been having a factory reset issue every time I turn the game on. I checked the batteries, checked the D2 diode, and checked to make sure power was getting to the RAM. Everything checks out. Most guides I've read stop there, as I take it the problem is usually in one of those places. Now, there is some bad corrosion damage on the board that is definitely causing some issues elsewhere that I'm working on, so I'm wondering if it could potentially be causing this?

I will be taking the board off soon to clean and check for all corrosion spots. Is there anything in particular I should look out for in regards to this issue? Thanks!

Had the exact same issue with my Getaway one time. It was the battery holder itself. After replacing it, the machine played great again.

You got some bad corrosion issues. Need to take care of that too.

Get rid of the battery holder, neutralize the damage, remove (and throw away) the affected components, sand off the damage, neutralize again, install new components, install NVRAM.

After the battery damage is addressed, then take a look at this for game resets: http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_WPC#Game_resets

Thanks for all the replies so far! Just to clarify, I'm actually not having game reset issues, just the factory reset on startup. Reset issues may come later :p

Gotcha. Then yes, just address the battery damage.

I've been talking to Matt. He's getting 4.5V at pin whatever of U8, which I think may be low to hold settings. Might have to recap/bridge the power supply, but we'll see how it reads after repairing corrosion damage. He'll be in my neck of the woods soon and I'ma help him replace battery holder with NVram and deal with the corroded IC chips. It looks like it's not too far gone yet, knock on wood-rail.

I'm thinking I can get U16, U19, U20 out and put in some sockets for him to stick new chips in. Might be a little dicey around U16.
