My experience with Williams games of this era is that if you press and hold the credit button after ball 1, the game will restart. With my machine, pressing the credit button after play starts does nothing. The button is unlit and almost acts as if it is disconnected.

I've gone through all the adjustments menus and don't see anything related.

Any idea of what might be wrong?

Thanks,

Dave

What firmware do you have (most prefer L2)? If I recall what I've read in the past, I believe this may not be a feature until L5. You should have the game restart setting on "slow" so you have to hold it in for a second. If on fast, and unintentional press or bump of the start button will reset the game.

I have L5. Restart set to "slow"

Checking the wiring of the button... Thanks

Might want to try it on fast if you haven't already to see what that does.

I'll give it a try.

I noticed that of the 4 wires coming off the start button, two seem to be disconnected at the back box (see attached pictures). I have no idea why, but certainly suspect.

I believe that two of the wires are for the switch function (WH/OR - GR/BR) and two are for the button illumination (Y/BL - Red/BL (gray?)). The button light doesn't work. When I look at the back board connection points, I do see wires connected to the pins specified in the manual, so I am hesitant to connect the two loose wires. Any idea of what might be going on, and if this impacts anything other than the button illumination? Thanks!

Mr. Tantrum - I set it to "instant" and it now works! Thanks!!

Still interested in what to do with the two loose wires if anyone has any thoughts...

Same exact scenario. The setting 'Instant' works, but 'Slow' does not. Anyone solve it?
