Haha no pictures. I love puzzles and a good challenge.

That post gave me a mini panic attack.

Quoted from Grinder901:

I just hope I can put it all back once it's ready.

Should turn out great with all Chestnut's work and your cleaning up/extensive shop job. I recently did a playfield swap so these pics here may be of help: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/hs2-playfield-swap/page/2#post-2971273

Thanks!!!! Topic added. My playfield has only a few issues and none that really warrant a full playfield replacement. I've been thinking about buying a new playfield and was offered $900 for his. I'm surprised the OCD/perfectionist in me isn't doing a full playfield swap but I don't think I need to. Years from now maybe.

WOW!!! $900...I'd do it then get the new one cleared by Kruzman.

Ah you're killing me. I'm doing new cabinet decals and the chroming. I gotta stop for a bit so I can actually enjoy the game someday soon

New playfield $900
Getting it cleared ?
Paying someone to swap ?

Playing it when done. Priceless!

It's a pretty simple swap if the playfield is an original or one dimpled. Great way to learn but understand wanting to just play the darn thing and enjoy it. My playfield was pretty rough but I love the game so spent the time and money on it. It was worth it but I did play it for over 4 years before the swap.

#1909 8 years ago

There are only a few spots on my playfield but most would not even be noticed by 90% of the players when everything is put back together. Considering its age. It's prob a solid 7 or 8/10. Shooter lane looks great and minimal wear at the ball eject but I'm putting a protector there anyway.

That game looks very nice. That's not much wear at all on the saucer. It typically gets really worn down at the back.

#1911 8 years ago

I'll put some Mylar down before everything goes back on

#1912 8 years ago

how does one protect further wear from the lock ramp on the playfield?

#1913 8 years ago

Piece of Mylar is what I did.

#1914 8 years ago

guess i could touch it up first. make it look halfway decent.

Not chroming the stoplight??

Def chroming the stoplight base

#1916 8 years ago

Somebody sell me a mountain mod. I'm about to shop out my getaway and I can't find one anywhere!

#1917 8 years ago

I've been bugging Mezelmods to make some for us. There's def a demand

#1918 8 years ago

I'd buy one if they make more. I'll have another Getaway someday.

#1919 8 years ago

is it just me or are the callouts and various sound effects way louder than zz top? it's almost like my sound isn't right or i have a bad speaker.

#1920 8 years ago

I've noticed that the ZZ Top soundtrack is a bit low on mine. Contemplating picking up a pinsound board and going with full custom sounds.

I'm prob going to upgrade the speakers on mine too.

Pinsound board?

Im going to be redoing the cabinet decals on my Getaway soon and one of the things i want to do while i have it toen apart is either replace or somehow fix the shaft on the gear shift. The chrome is pitted and corroded and im not sure what to do. I cant get it rechromed as the handle is pressed on so there is no removing it and replacing it will be a challenge as these things are pretty much unobtanium.
Any suggestions ?

#1923 8 years ago

Show some pictures.

Why not take the handle off like I did and put a different handle on after chroming it?

Damn, I should have sent mine to Mike to chrome....

#1924 8 years ago

anybody want to be a dear and give me the wire colors on the start button? most specifically, i'm missing the one on the right side, which i think is causing it not to light up. i made the mistake of ordering a new button before actually looking at it...

#1925 8 years ago

Do these help? My coin door is being chromed so there's a big joke there.

these wires go to a connector on a board (a-14689) that's on the left cabinet wall under the flipper.

#1929 8 years ago

white/orange to j6-2
red/(purple/black?) to j6-4
green/purple to j6-7

at the bottom of that second pic, the yellow/green wire is loose, not connected. easy fix? is that what i'm missing?

#1930 8 years ago

I put a www.pinsound.org board in my Star Trek The Next Generation. I like it. I might consider putting one in my Getaway someday.

#1931 8 years ago

I ordered the cabinet decals off eBay over three weeks ago and still havent received it. NEVER again! F ing international post can suck it.

#1932 8 years ago

Yeah these international orders can sometimes take forever, probably just sitting at customs waiting for someone to clear it.

Yep it's been waiting on clearance for almost a week. Wtf

#1939 8 years ago

I bought mine about a year ago from classic arcades. Im a profeesional graphics installer so i generally know my stuff but its hard to tell off the sheet . Ill keep all posted on what i think after i install them. Might consider clear coating them after the installation we will see.

#1940 8 years ago

So I'm replacing my flippers with chrome colored ones. I noticed underneath, the flipper mechs of the lower two flippers are different into their cleanliness. The left one is filthy and the right one is clean and new looking. What causes the left one to get so dirty? How can I clean it?

image_(resized).jpegimage_(resized).jpeg

image_(resized).jpegimage_(resized).jpeg

#1941 8 years ago

Someone replaced the parts on the right one. You can clean them up, but I generally just replace all of the flipper mechs with new kits when I shop my games out.

#1942 8 years ago

Ok that's kinda what I thought.

I bought three flipper rebuild kits

Looking great. I like the new pop bumpers and the translucent rubbers! Very nice!

Thanks man. I swapped the red and green. I agree much better.

I'm putting in three chrome/silver color flippers. I can't decide on what color rubber to use: red, black or hell maybe translucent?

Red, easier to see what the ball is doing.

#1950 8 years ago

anyone have issues where sometimes the ball lock in the wire form lets 2 balls go instead of just one...like in multi player games if someone already has a ball locked, you lock a ball and its supposed to let one go to continue play?
