I've had it for like 2 hours and I've seen it 3 times so far

It seems to happen when you get multiball off Burn Rubber

#6552 6 years ago
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:

Yeah, that may be the case, but I'm sure you attract all the chicks with that funky vibe black light reactive carpet and such in your swagged out game room. Some guys just have all the luck.

Nope no chicks, those days are long gone for me. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's look out, me and the Mustang were killers, look at my avatar picture. But because I had such good times I never settled down so no wife or kids.

Found this: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/getaway-club-dispatch-run-a-make-on-license-plate-kingpin#post-1407040

Also, you may want to check all of your settings and put them on default. Then you can experiment from there. BTW, what version do you have?

Uh oh, you're not going to start posting pics of all your cats now, are you?

Never had time for any animals, I'd be off for weeks at a time when I was doing video.

Brought mine home today. Happy for my first pin. Needs some clean up but it will keep me happy till I get my DI

Congrats Grim. Nice!!

I didn't know you did Video. I'm in AV myself.

Welcome GrimDog!

I have had HS2 for a bit over a week, but also hit the multi-ball bug like crazy. Annoyed me enough I have ordered an L-5 ROM (which has a different bug some consider a bigger problem). While I wait to try L-5, playing in Tournament Mode I haven't hit the issue. The Burn Rubber awards are deterministic in this mode and Multiball is the 5th awarded. (less multiball, less fun?)

L-5 Rom - https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1083-matt-s-basement-arcade/00902-high-speed-ii-the-getaway-cpu-rom-u6

ROM Comparison - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/getaway-club-dispatch-run-a-make-on-license-plate-kingpin#post-1407040

There is some mention of both bugs in this thread, but this is maybe the best description of the L-5 bug -

Cool, I had my own small video production company for 20 years. Boy do I have video equipment I could sell.

Yeah, the Onlyest can be so emasculating sometimes. Probably intentional, but I continue to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Huh? I think he meant Doh, that you didnt see that on ebay yourself.

Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:

Wait a minute! Are you pulling one over on me? Did you just post this for sale after you've been reading my posts? I see what you did there. Also, smart thinking shipping from your Jersey estate so as not to be as easily identified.

If that was mine, ida just sent it to you a week ago.

Hmm... sorry but I cannot get past the thought of some cheesy, "fuzzy" 80's porn videos, gah

Maybe Mr T would prefer to make his own anyway! and besides, it gave me something to do, certainly wasn't a big deal.

From the ROM revision post:

ROM REVISION ........................................... L1 L2 L5
Multiple balls released from lock multi player) ...? N Y

Is this really a common issue? Or could it be thought to be due to circumstances on a specific game.

I assume this is addressed as a problem in 1-in-1-out lock trough behaviour.

Quoted from tiltmonster:

I did get asked to make a few of those but I turned them down, I didn't want my company to be known as "that kind" of video company.

#6566 6 years ago

I was just about to put on some of that 70's "style" music to set the mood too

Actually it was 80's style music.

Sometimes I forget how my feeble attempts at humor with you typical fail (don't worry, I realize I'm not that funny). Anyway, just meant that you pointed out an obvious solution that I somehow overlooked as eBay is usually my first source for everything. As always, thanks for the advice.

No worries my friend, I got it, not a fail. Just trying to keep my banter to an absolute minimum here.

#6572 6 years ago

My Rom identifies as P-C and while not particularly well documented I can tell you I DO NOT have the Free Ride bug, I DO have "Run the Red Light Mode" near as I can tell its basically L5 with Red Light mode patched back in. IIR L2 scores pretty high on Video mode. My P-C Rom seems to score about the same as L5 which is lower than L2. I have a virtual pin as well so I have tried all HS2 roms at some point but its been awhile so I may not remember all the differences though it seems to me like P-C is the way to go.

So we rebuilt all three flippers on the re-import Getaway and I'm noticing that all of the coils (except the flippers) on the game are AE-26-1700, except one AE-26-1500. Referencing the manual these are totally wrong, and I suspect the operator just swapped them out for whatever was on hand (why, I don't know). Should I bite the bullet, spend ~$125 and replace all coils per the manual?

Was that a typo the 26-1700? Most of the coils should be 26-1200. Can't see why someone would change all of them out, that would be some really bad failure.

#6575 6 years ago

Might be 27-1700, but yeah I guess we will swap out the ones that are incorrect!

I set mine to tournament mode too to eliminate the issue from popping up. Only turn off tourney when the kids are playing now. I didn't like the randomness of it anyway.

Random noob question. I have a nice build up of black funk on the supercharger ramp. What do I use to safely clean that off?

Can you take a photo of what you are taking about? Would help to decide on what procedure to go with to clean.

Metal polish, I like never dull myself, but there are plenty of choices.

Clean that stuff off and get ready to watch the ball FLY.

I think I need new balls too. What do you guys recommend?

#6587 6 years ago

I would bet you're right!

Just order new ones from wherever you usually get parts.

Shiny from PBL, and Titan has very nice ones too.

#6590 6 years ago

WOW!!! I've never seen ball trails that bad on metal ramps before.

PBL doesn't have Shiny anymore.

I got some cleaning and waxing to do. Table feels slow compared to videos I seen. Half the shots in the supercharger ramp make it around once then don't have enough force to hit the magnet then just come back out.

Dont waste your money on anything but decent pinballs.

Yea, that's why I was asking for recommendations. I have no clue.

I think, based on how grimy your supercharger ramp is, you need to do a full teardown and cleaning of the playfield. You will not believe the difference in how it will play !!! Clean that baby up !!!!! Use a good metal polish on that ramp and if you want to regrain, lots of good advice on this site to do just that.

That doesn't sound good, I wonder if all 3 of your magnets are working.

Just dont bother with the "ultra cool" "ultra shiny" balls. Get the ordinary pinballs for the best price and just change them once every year or so or when they start to look a little rough. I dont care what anyone says, anything more than that is money wasted.

No that's just because your cheap.

I agree Grim. Go into test mode and see what your supercharger speed is working at and post back. Could be just time to clean the optos with a qtip and windex.
