As a new Genie owner I am very grateful to have resources like this, so valuable, and truly appreciate anyone who helps me. The prior owner replaced and installed all the circuit boards on the machine with the exception of the sound board. The CPU is a Ni-Wumpf. When the SB is plugged in it makes an awful high pitched sound like a house alarm going off. In the very faint background you can hear what might be the original Genie sound when the score is tallied. But I mean I also might be hearing things too that's how faint it is. A shrieking loud alarm type sound so bad you have to unplug it. Even when turned down you can hear it constantly whining. He had purchased the new board in the photos below but had not installed it. I plugged it in and there are no sounds just an audible hum. The ebay ad where he bought it states that it is for first Gottlieb Electronic Pinball machines such as Close Encounters etc. I really would like to get the original sound working and hope to get some direction here. Thanks

I'm not sure if it matters (compatibility) but that is a generation 1 soundboard and Genie used a generation 2.
If it's got a squeal I would check the connections and ground first.

Here is a pic of generation 2 soundboard for system 1. It was able to have the sounds changed with the red dip switches.

The 1. generation sound board was a three tone board with 555 chips. Those pictured are both 2nd gen, but looks like someone removed the dip switch from Genie board. Board will work without switches, only changing between two different sound modes and setting attract sound on/off is not possible.

Maybe new capacitors could help. Also check/replace the 4 rectifier diodes.
