Ive posted a few pics of this machine under the genesis ramps thread ,( started this thread as not to hijack that one) but since comformation from freeplay40 my ramps were coming , ive been busy tearing down polishing and ordering parts , im calling this restoration a labor of love , as between the cost of the machine and what ive spent on parts , im in way more than this pin will ever be worth !

heres a few pics i took when i started tearing it down , they are of small areas as i took them as a guide for post locations ball guides etc..

After teardown i cleaned everything with the majick erasure , mild soap.

,

I started with meguires ultra cut 1rst step ,then moved to meguires ultra finishing polish Pfb3.jpgPfb3.jpgPfb2.jpgPfb2.jpgPfb1.jpgPfb1.jpg

Then the final step hand apply 2 coats of mothers carnuba wax and buff off with soft wool pad

This is were im at so far , im waiting on lots of parts including freeplay40s clear ramps a new plastic set from marcos leds new posts , new sling shot switches , decals etc... im sure there somthing im missing

The screw hole on the bottom ramp is blown out. I'm not sure that you would be able to use that one without large washers or globs of glue.

I always find a way to make things usable.

If it wasn't $600 and if Genesis was worth considerably more, I might be tempted, but as it is, a $600 playfield for a $600-$1200 game just isn't worth it.

I know i paid 600 for my genesis and have spent 600 in parts that's enough dont mind 1200 into a nice game add a Pf start pushing the 2grand mark thats insane

Hey Lockednlit I dont know how involved you want to get with your restore but I would advise against reinstalling the screw in stud post. During my restore i noticed several were bent from repeated ball strikes (especially around the ramp and bumber area)and the wood was somewhat stripped in the area of the stud threads. I changed all of mine to the #6 threaded post with the hammer in threaded clips on the back of the playfield. Those original screw in post just never seem to go back in as strong as they need to be in my opinion. Its worth the upgrade ☺

Im definitely changing out the bumper posts at the end of the ramps , i have a hard time figuring out what to use from catalog pics , sound strange i know but im just better figuring with things i have in my hands , i did a search on marcos for #6 bumper post but not sure if im finding it do you happen to have a part #

Mini Post #6 or #8:

Tap in "T" nuts #6 or #8:

If you order the Cliffy ramp protectors they will come with the taller bumper post protectors for the ramps. I would recommend this also to protect your new ramps and helps prevent ball deflection off the left ramp post when the ball rolls back down.

Have you come across any side rails/guides that have a broken support that is screwed down to the playfield? I have one that is broken (on the right side), but I'm having difficulty on how to repair or replace the support. The support secures the metal side rail at the top and bottom which is crimped to hold the rail in place.

One of mine was broken but fortunately didnt interfere with the games operation. Im not sure if PBR has these assemblies or not. I remember looking at those and wondering how could I work around it if need be.
