likely to be caps or amplifiers

in my experience, your symptoms sound like a failing amplifier. I see them with this failure mode often. They work for a few minutes and once they warm up sound gets distorted with lots of junk noise.

I had the same problem. I sent my borads to the infamous Clive at "Coin'op Caldron"!

He fixed them good as new!!!

Feel the heat sync on the amp(s).
See if they are really, really hot when the problem occurs.

I replacement tda2002/2003 will run you all of a dollar. That is most likely the audio amp it uses. Worth replacing audio filter caps as well.

thanks , I'll try to change the 2 X OP amp

It didnt make sense there wasnt another main amplifier.

Turns out they put that sound amp on a different board... DERP! Look on page 31 of the PDF i just sent you. There is a TDA2002 amp on the Aux power board. I would suspect that amp before the LM324.

You can use a TDA2003 as a replacement.

You really need to slow down.
Gottlieb System 3 boards are delicate, and the ICs seem to be jammed into the through holes, making removal without damaging the board a job left to pros.

As baraka said, the amp is on the aux board.nfo

Pop a tda2003 in there instead of a tda2002. It has better specs and is pin for pin compatible with the same current draw. it has protection for failure in it (auto shut off on over heat) as well as an additional couple watts. I replace all TDA2002s with 2003s.
