I have to paint the exterior of my house this spring, and I would like to have an HVLP setup for painting cabinets, and clearing playfields. I understand that HVLP is not ideal for shooting water based enamels. I am wondering if anyone has found a decent HVLP setup (gun/turbine combo) that can be purchased for under $500 that might work for both my house painting and pinball applications?

I'm starting to think such a setup doesn't exist at my price point. The sticking point appears to be that acrylic takes quite a bit of pressure to atomize the paint, and requires a three or four stage turbine.

Thanks, that article was indeed very helpful.

Unless you're painting detail work like window trim and not large areas like wood lap siding I couldn't imagine painting a house with a suction feed hvlp. You would be filling the cup every few minutes. I would buy the hvlp setup you want for the cabinetry and playfield work and rent a cheap airless from Sherwin-Williams for a day or two for the house painting.

The house painting I will mostly be doing is trim work. I have to replace a some of the facia board that will require painting, and I am *trying* to justify the purchase to the household finance czar (aka... My Wife).
