Dealing with a sometimes slow mixmaster on first run of the day. Not sure if it's short on power or if it's a dirty motor. Ideas on where to check first?

#702 1 year ago

How much ball action do you guys get in the Mixmaster? When the ball enters the MM on my DD, it almost always heads straight down the ramp without tagging a target. On occasion, it might tag a few, but to get a bunch of hits that are meaningful - almost never.

The motor and RPM are perfectly fine, and I have Titan silicone bands in there too. The spinning disk is original, but not torn. Could it be worn out and too slick? Does that surface need to be more course to grab the ball more?

I know folks say they just keep banging at the MM to collect their greens, reds and yellows, but if I used that strategy, it would take all damn day.

So are there any tricks to get more ball action in the MM?

Thanks

I bought the titan rubber for the center cork or whatever, def gave it more bounce than before, but still get plenty of duds like youve experienced

Hey Dudes! Just picked up a beater with a couple issues. The right sling locks on on boot, and has clearly been replaced along with the tip120 on the board. The replacement coil is a 26-1500. The manual specs a 26-1200, but the coil on the other side which appears original is also a 26-1500. Can anyone with coils that don't destroy themselves confirm what they have?

Is there a source for sling plastics only?

I don't think it is possible to buy plastics for this game unless they are used?

Hart RR plastics are usually broken very hard to find original one. Hell its hard to find repos

They were selling for more than that 5 years ago
And sling plastics have always been a hard find
The repos don’t have dots on face.

Hey folks. I am creating some DD plastics for a high-end restoration I am working on. Could possibly have a few extra. PM me if interested.

Can anyone use this? I bought this and a clear ramp for my Dr. Dude and ended up not using this one. Made by Jody at Ramp-o-Matic.

Never opened. NOTE - the photos make it look darker than it is in actuality. Just making that known.

$75 shipped to the continental US.

Anytime else have issues with the mix master disk loosening itself off? I feel like I must have put something together wrong or is it just a case of using locktite or something?

Just picked up a nice Dr Dude, working all the way but needs a fresh shopping.
Was my third or so machine back in the day, and took me another 17 years to land another.

What’s the latest on the Big shot, still hard to find I assume. Anyone have the 3d files for printing available?

Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

I got done my shop out and ow there are issues after reinstall.
The game came out really nice (in my opinion). Here's a video just because.

But now the issues:
1) Molecular Ray up kicker fires continually.
2) upper pop bumper fires intermittently.
3) Mixmaster seems to run at random times.
That's all I sw off the bat. Asking for other Dude owners for some help.
1) Does your machine have these unconnected plugs?
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
Another question - the other plugs I have connected seem odd as there are many wires on one side but only 2 on the other side:
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
Did I just connect things wrong? So frustrating
Chris

Just something I remember from 17 years ago when I had my first, but if a switch isn’t activated in dr dude (“credit dot”) it will cause and trigger the mix master to randomly run,
In other words, DR Dude likes it when every switch is working correctly.

Did you need a whole set or something specific? I have some spares from a NOS set I used, but not many, and not the common stuff (slinks, heart of rock and roll, etc).

I've been learning to scan and print stuff. I have a broken Big Shot figure that I'm working on.

The scanning setup I made with a lazy Suzan ring:

A little test print:
IMG_20230421_183417_912.jpgIMG_20230421_183417_912.jpg

I wonder what the legals around selling prints would be.

It would be really useful to get some pictures of the back of the figure of anyone has an unbroken one. Mine is quite busted so I'm trying to mould some plasticine into the void prior to rescanning it.

Current torso piece:

What is the best way to access the backbox speakers ? I'd like to look over my speakers and the wire connections but they're tucked up there.

#722 1 year ago

It’s not as difficult as it looks. Remove the screws holding the top and bottom of the speaker panel and disconnect the speaker connection from the connector inside the head. Now you are free to remove the complete speaker panel from the pin..

Good luck with that. Have you read other posts in this thread on this subject?

As an aside, I have often wondered what happened to all the broken Hot Shots - why would someone throw away a broken one when he/she doesn’t have a replacement…

Having a hard time troubleshooting the motor for the mix master. It has voltage and doesn't fire during test, or when either the mpu transistor or intermediary board transistor are fired. Tried replacing the intermediary board transistor with a tip102 with no change. I unsoldered the power wires from the motor board straight to a brand new motor and expected that it would spin, but no dice. Is the board the motor is attached to required for the motor to spin, or is my problem somewhere else that I'm missing. I figured if those wires had the voltage going straight to the motor would work fine. What else do I need to look at?

Can someone send me a photo of the connector for the skill shot on the playfield backboard? Mine has never worked and I discovered several wires out of the connector. I want to redo the entire connector but would like to see one that is correct first. Here is what I have. 3 wires broken out which prevents everything else from working. I’m assuming they are the feed side as none of the skill shot lights work and the excellent ray does work.

All you need to do is match up the wire colors. None of the lights work because of the broken yellow wire. Match the stripe color up on the red wires, red/brown to red/brown, red/black to red/black and your good to go.

Think I bought mine on eBay from this guy, very happy with it, beats having an empty spot where he sits and paying $200 for an original that is made of flimsy thinner plastic.
I was able to drill mine out from the bottom and attack the bracket up through the feet into the body,
that things going nowhere.

You know, I was wondering -

Who here has a Dr Dude - possibly a Sample game - with a large black ink smear in the center area around the thermometer artwork?

Back, 20 years ago, I had a Dr Dude in one of the locations I worked in, and I left shortly before the place closed. The owner said I'd have 'right of claim' to any of the games, but of course never got contacted. I'm wondering what happened to that specific game!

#737 6 months ago

Redid the connector. For the first time since I’ve had it (a long time) all of the “I” test and jackpot meter lights are working on the backboard! Now to order LEDs and get in these hard to reach spots after molexing and fixing cold joints on all 3 of the connectors back there. Should be reliable for a long time. Last lamp to figure out is the “jackpot lit when flashing lamp” the plastic, and lamp are completely missing on mine. I searched the wiring harness and see added wire up to the heart of rock n roll but do not see where I’d connect the jackpot light. Once I get other stuff fixed on this, I’ll come back to it

Hello pinheads.
I'm just about done shopping a Dr. Dude but am missing two piece in particular. The machine I have is completely missing the red fuel line (20-9656-1) molecular mix cable and it has the heart rock' n'roll but broken. Doesn't affect any gameplay but it would be important for me to have the cable and repair the heart. So my question is this....does anyone have a rescanned reference picture that I can print on plastic of the rock'n'roll heart and does anyone can help me in find or sell me the red cable? Thank you in advance!!!
