Well almost complete. In the Spring, I'm going to make a wooden backbox door to replace the nasty metal one. And I still need to decide whether to attempt to fix the backglass or buy a replacement.

Further details are in the thread: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bare-wood-em-playfield-repaint
Cabinet painting with laser cut stencils described here:

This machine was purchased for $50. It had a terrible stink of smoke and had been stored in a garage where something stashed sunflower seeds inside. It has undergone a pretty thorough restoration!
- new legs
- new cabinet back made out of plywood to replace the damaged particleboard back
- new siderails
- cabinet sanded clean and repainted using laser-cut stencils
- all mechs tumbled/polished/cleaned
- playfield completely repainted
- inside wood rails sanded and repainted
- top arch repainted blue to match the apron
- door and lockbar sanded and polished

For now I left the apron original.

This project was pretty challenging, particularly repainting the playfield. Now I know it can be done, at least on something nice and geometric as this one.

On to the next project!

Nicely done

Nice job! I’ve been following this whole resto. Awesome job.

If you go the wooden door route, make sure there is plenty of clearance for the mechs inside the backbox. I had issues with wooden doors I made for a couple Gottlieb 2-player games with the rotating player unit in the backbox. The door got in the way of the player unit.

Ended up going to a sheet metal fabricator instead.

You know, I never thought that the metal door is basically hollow. I’ll definitely confirm first!

I ended up spraying the backbox cover with cold zinc paint. Looks fine.

Bought a replacement for the backglass from https://www.coos.net/bingo_e/Backglasses.html
