Quoted from j_m_:blownfuse:
after looking at your photos, I don't believe that it would as simple as you think to produce the red/blue variation.
if you look closely, you'll notice that all of the elements touching the blue sections still have a black outline. as the vector file stands now, the solid colors end and then the black section begins. in order to accomplish what you're asking for, mr. smith would have to alter his artwork, add in the outlines and then fill the new remaining area.
in the screen printing process, this would require at least 2 additional screens to accomplish (a different one for black w/ the outlines and no large black sections and one for the blue section)
here's a peek at what's been completed so far:note: the light blue is merely to show the transparent and scrap areas
hola,
did you decide to use my sling-shot left plastic in the final artwork?
cheers,
bb
Quoted from DougPiranha:I just bought a joust. Count me in on a set of plastics.
congratz !!
what's your model # ?
any pix?

Going to pick it up shortly.
that's hilarious... i think i just ran across your other thread and pointed you over here to buy a set of plastics
Quoted from cardfelon:Best of luck in with your search. It took me well over a year to find one for sale.
yup. same here.
Quoted from j_m_:crisis averted, we're back on track now (I think), and now for a poll (for those considering purchasing a set)
both mr. smith and I noticed a few things "wrong" with the original plastics including this rather glaring odd design choice.
the crossover plastic currently covers everything rather nicely with the exception of the red transparent star post right where the ball enters each player's side of the playfield.
the question is should we leave it the way that williams originally designed it, or extend the piece a bit further to cover up the screw securing the star post?joust cross over.JPG 273 KB
hola,
completely different item, but related to your photo
have you ever noticed that the plastic (rainbow colors on the right of pic) do not match the playfield art (rainbow) ?
for example from Right--to-->Left, the colors of the:
a) PLAYFIELD = Red, White(med), Yellow, White(thin), <BLUE>, <RED>, Black.
b) TOP PLASTIC = <no red>, White(thick), Yellow, White(thin), <RED>, <BLUE>, Black.
See the flip in red/blue, blue/red in the rainbow striping of colors?
Quoted from j_m_:brett:
yes, we're aware of that [other] mistake (wrong colors on transition vs. playfield color transitioning) and we've already corrected that.
back to the question at hand, what are everyone's thoughts to extending the cross over piece a bit to cover the star post completely?
guess i'm struggling visually to help. can you post a side-by-side compare of:
a) existing design
b) new design (and point to what is different) ?
sorry, still need coffee today, but want to help
what's the actual change ?
is it, adding more plastic to the right of pic to extend over the screw & rubber below?
thx,
bb
Quoted from j_m_:if you'd like brett, I can ship your plastics out like a "beer of the month club" and stretch out your receiving the entire set over the period of a year! LOL
man... that's actually not a bad idea, given my personality type
Quoted from j_m_:although, to be honest, I really do want to get this finished so that I can go back to working on another [super secret] project which has been in the planning stages for the past 18 months
do tell... i could use a whole new/clean set of plastics for mr/mrs pacman pinball. is that it ?
i have:
a) 3 bolts (black) holding in the clear piece & plastic 'over' my coin-door. these 3 are pretty scratched up.
b) 6 bolts (silver) below where player 1 stands holding in the marquee plastics.
c) 6 bolts (silver) below where player 2 stands holding in the marquee plastics.
is this the same as yours?
thinking of going all-black for all 15 of them?
what about playfield plastics screws (mine came with silver)? ...and also acorn colors/options?
any recommendations on either?
cheers,
bb
too exciting.... thanks for the early alarm clock today. what a drag... but I bet it was exciting once you were there.
can't wait to see.
gotta say... of all the pin projects going on this year, this is by far the most exciting. must just be a bunch of lurkers on this, because, i can't wait
maybe there's a lot of joust owners out there who just aren't aware?
There was a joust pin at the Texas Pinball Festival (TPF) this weekend in Dallas, Tx (Mar 28-30).
I'll post some pix of it.
I also ran into another guy who was there (in Dallas, Tx) and then later in Austin who also owns a Joust.
We helped a guy unload his pins after the show in Austin. The guy who owns the Joust lives like 10 minutes from me. Who knew... So that's 3 confirmed (working) Joust pins in Texas. One is just minutes away.
cheers,
bb
Quoted from j_m_:the completed illustrator files for the direct print set were just emailed. fingers crossed that I they will be able to have the direct printed set completed by friday morning. if so, I will have it with me at MPE for those interested in seeing our progress so far
ummm... that would be me
going to be replacing some bulbs under the playfield.
anyone recommend if i:
a) bend metal clip back to get bulb out (as there isn't room to get it to lift out of socket). then bend back into place.
b) unscrew & remove metal clip to remove bulb(s), then screw back in.
c) other?
thanks,
bb
Quoted from Stu:We already have the Artwork done for the Playfield ( by CPR Artist Jim Smith, who also did the Plastics artwork ), we are simply waiting to produce it until we have a Widebody Drum Sander for the wood......
....next week, right ?
