I recently acquired a Data East Star Wars and the center SS ramp was broken on both sides and missing a chunk out of the right. Since these are made of unobtainium, I had one made and have the ability to have these mass-produced.

The replacement is made of 16 gauge SS and is stronger than the factory 18 gauge. I'm also thinking of having the flaps made in SS as well.

I'm gauging interest to see how many people would seriously commit in an effort to get the cost down. I need a minimum of 10+ people to make it worthwhile.

Interested.

#3 9 years ago

Ok interested. Damn nice job....

To fix my ramp, I had to have ss weld at a motorcycle shopped. It ended up costing me a $100.

Would love to have a better ramp.

#5 9 years ago

I am 99% sure I know a person who would take one, I know they need a replacement ramp.

#6 9 years ago

Would be interested dependant on cost.

#7 9 years ago

I'm in as long as i don't ave to sell my DESW to afford it.

#8 9 years ago

I doubt you will have a problem selling 10 of these.

#9 9 years ago

Great job! I don't have that machine but it looks awesome & professional.

#10 9 years ago

price?

#11 9 years ago

I'm in.

#12 9 years ago

I'm shooting for $135 + shipping tops with blued steel flaps installed. Not a lot of wiggle room with small quantities. The more people that commit the cheaper the price from there. I'm only looking to make enough to pay for the first proto ramp and my gas to and from the metal fabricators and the post office + boxes. I would need to sell 14+ unit to break even.

#13 9 years ago

That really does look nice but my buddy tig welded mine so I'm good. He's welded 2 ramps and a wire form, n/c. It's nice to have friends with tig welders.

#14 9 years ago

I don't see how you can't sell 14 of these, especially under $150. The ramps all break their welds at some point (if they were on route). Should be an easy one..

I'm all in if it's close to that price.

What he said. Mine is fine now but looking at it, it's obviously been repaired before.

#18 9 years ago

Count me in.

#19 9 years ago

It has only been one day and see more than enough demand to do a small run. I'm going to call the fabricators on Monday and get a run of 15 made and nail down the pricing.

PM me to be put on the official list. Existing people who already have shown interest above this post get priority, but still have to PM me to verify commitment. Limit one unit per person for now. I'll continue to take names in order after the list is full for the possibility for a second run.

#20 9 years ago

I ordered 10 units today for the first round to see how the whole experience goes. I forgot about tax to my order and the flaps were more than I expected. The exact price is $145 per unit + shipping. This doesn't get me to my goal of paying for my original prototype ramp, but it gets me close.

They said it will take 2 to 3 weeks to complete the order.

PM me ASAP if you want one, the first round list is filling up!

#21 9 years ago

PM sent.

#22 9 years ago

You can add me to the list.

Please send me a PM.

#24 9 years ago

Only people who send me an official PM stating they want one will be put on the list. I use it for record keeping and helps confirm who's seriously making a commitment.

Not sure why only 10 units aren't selling out in a hurry. I'm glad I only ordered 10 units for now.

Only two spots left on the list! All others will be put on a secondary list in order. If demand is high enough, I'll have another run made.

Will the flaps be rivited onto the ramps?

Yes.

That looks like a much more durable ramp than the original one (the bottom welds ALWAYS break, mine have).

Do the rivets contact the ball, or are they far enough towards the walls that they don't? They look a bit more domed than the originals, but not a problem if they don't impact play though.

Also, any photos of it installed?

#28 9 years ago

I'm using factory flaps and standard factory equivalent rivets with the exact same size head. Placement is exact to factory ramps. My machine is now completely torn down for restoration and don't have an installed pic to offer right now.

#29 9 years ago

FIRST RUN LIST IS NOW FULL.

I have one person on the fence which might free up one more ramp on Sunday.

All new requests will be put on a new list for a possible second run if demand is high enough.

No problem about the lack of an installed pic, that info clears up my question just fine. I've jumped on this now, thanks for doing this!

The ramps are back from the fabricators and I installed the flaps last night. I'll be reaching out to people who committed with payment instructions soon. Need to narrow down shipping options/cost.

Note the additional tab welds at the entrance for extra protection.

I'm interested in one if you do another run or end up with a extra. Thanks

Ramps are boxed and ready to ship!

I sent PMs to everyone on the primary list with instructions.

I'll reach out to people on the secondary list if anyone drops from the primary list.

Thanks.

Received mine today also. Seems solid and really well made. Can't wait to install!

#40 9 years ago

I have 2 more available.

I had to increase the price by $10 bucks. Now $155 + $10.50 shipping to lower 48 states.

PM me ASAP, I'm not sure I'll do a second run.

Thanks.

Awesome! You're very welcome. Enjoy!

#45 9 years ago

Just wanted to add that I got my ramp very promptly and that it looks spectacular.

Although I'm not sure I'll ever use it. I've been on the fence now for many months on whether to restore my SW or just part it out. Started out For Sure restoring it and started buying parts left and right. But work has had me totally strapped and I have not done one thing to it. Winter might change my mind (work slows down) but parting it out and looking for a nice working one certainly had its appeal. Decisions, decisions.

I'm now sold out.

#48 9 years ago

I'm a day late. My ramp is missing like 4 inches on the right side. Let me know if you run another set please. Thank you.

#49 9 years ago

I'm looking into having 5 more ramps made. When I get more details, I'll pass it along.

#50 9 years ago

I now have only 3 ramps available for the next run. PM me ASAP if you want in!
