Great thread! I may direct a few people here in the future! Just a clarification for everyone. These displays CAN NOT be used in the DE games with the smaller displays. The board is actually completely different and requires that the ROM from the factory display needs to be moved over to the PIN2DMD display. The firmware that is used is the same, that's why the option comes up in the menu.
