Quoted from UFO:

So here is the story.
I recently dropped off my williams Warlok, and Harlem
globetrotters to be repaired.
The Warlok booted up, all displays worked, the only
problem it had was the coils would not fire.(except flippers) .
The repair guy fixed the coil problem, and said it took 30 hours.
Witch seems excessive, but he wanted to charge me 25 bucks
an hour for 17 hours. He did not even replace the 40 pin
interconnect, I refused to pay, told him to keep it, and
maybe we work something out. Game not even worth 450
missing backglass, told em i would just take the hg home.
he told me get the f.ck out and kept my games.
He did not work on hg at all.
So I am looking for opinions on my next step, file a civil suit, call
the cops, kick his ass and take my shit back, I would pay for the repair,
but I am not gonna pay 25 bucks an hour for someone to learn.
has this ever happend to anyone? Usually my board repair is 75 bucks or so.
so I cant understand why it took 17 hours.

Have the police help you get your games back then he can deal with suing you you would be far then you try and sue him

He will win because there was no written deal. He is dead wrong, because he should have called with a price or an estimate once he knew it was going to be over $100, in my opinion. Like i said before, use social media. If he sells machines and repairs them, boom goes his business. And next time you run in to him, a left to the gut, followed by a right to the jaw, and any pinsider will swear they saw him trip.

Don't turn to violence.

A man with pride or fear may respond with a gun sooner or later. It won't end after the fight, it will only begin & you certainly won't feel better afterward. Prison, guilt, stress, death or ongoing disputes are not worth $700.

Just count your blessings in life & move on. Be happy you aren't living in some horrible place like Sierra Leone or North Dakota

Pay him the money.. then extract 3x that value from his public reputation... make him have to hire a lawyer to stop you, which would be futile because the truth will set you free.

#55 10 years ago

Honestly, without giving him a budget and blindly dropping them off I do think you need to pay up We simply can't know if tracking the problem down took him a significant amount of time.

If it were me, initially I'd say I only want to spend $150, is that doable no matter what? If not, then ask him how much for the repair and move on if he quotes higher. At this point you are stuck and should probably pay up, sorry

My bands new track : "Dont Turn to Violence " just went gold at Guantanamo.

Just simply go and pick them up. I had a restorer that tried to stooge me for more money. I simply said I'm coming to pick up my machine right now. Stuff these morons.

2 weeks later
#63 10 years ago

What no update?? Almost three weeks.

#64 10 years ago

Offered 250 and he agreed, thought I updated.
still was not worth it, yeah it works, but did not
replace 40 pin interconnect, broke playfield glass, not
sure if done maliciously, or just shattered, ive had it happen.
but anyway after 12 years there is only 2 people
I will never deal with again, and they both live
in northwest Arkansas.

#65 10 years ago

Bummer sorry for all the hassle you've had.
At least you have them back.

Play those troubles away!

#66 10 years ago

Well lesson learned, i guess? It is a shame that happened. No inner connect done oh my.

I have seen videos of guys wacking glass with hammer and nothing *on face" but on edge tiny tap and POW all over.

#67 10 years ago

You should tell everybody here who that is...

I wouldnt buy a 10,000 game from him for a Grand !

Karma, and this dude deserves the shitty end of it for a while...

^^^ What he said BUT with one addition....Bring at least 3 friends/witnesses so he cannot accuse you of threatening him, punching him, etc. Plus 4 against 1 will make him think twice about screwing with you. If he still refuses to return YOUR property, right there & then, call the police and let them earn their paychecks. That is EXACTLY how I would handle this thief. Oh, and by the way, post his name/business so he can be outed here on this forum to serve as warning to other potential victims. Best of luck.
