Here are my restored Ideal 55 "slider" and my original paint "survivor" LaCrosse can vendor. The 1947 Bastian-Blessing soda fountain allows me to make sodas with the CO2 water and six flavors on the syrup rail.

That must be the nicest looking 68 year old soda fountain I have ever seen
I have an 1960 cavalier pictured on my avatar. Compressor died a few weeks back. Trying to figure out best way to get it running again. When people visit my gameroom its the first thing they notice. Love mine.
Quoted from ibuypinballs:Had this in my gameroom for 15 years. The people I purchased it from had it in their basement for 40 years. 100% original. Sold it last year.

Quoted from Phantom1911:The one on the right does 6 flavours of soda, the one on the left has been converted to BEER!

Hahaha my collage I attend has two of those in the canteen and one on the fourth floor
Always been interested in a soda vending machine. 2 serious questions:
1. Can some of the bottle vendos handle something like a vitamin water?
2. Is it possible to update the compressor to something more modern and efficient, and if so how hard is it to retrofit?
Here's a place that's fun to visit in person or on line.
Maybe they can answer the compressor questions.
Here's a really old picture of mine. I searched long and hard for a Mtn. Dew machine but just kept finding Coke and Pepsi machines everywhere's I looked. Finally found this one on Ebay and picked it up in New York. Best thing I ever bought for the basement.

Well, ya'll're making me jealous. I used to have a Cavalier (picked it up for $50 back in the early 90's).. Ended up giving it to a friend. He still has it and uses it, darnit.
Good machines, guys!

1). Most machines can handle a variety of bottles. Mine can hold pretty much anything from the 6 or 8 ounce bottles up to 20 ounces.
2) yes, but many new compressors are crap compared to the originals.

Probably not - you would have to put it in a can

I have that but without the base!
Quoted from PinBiohazard:Hot as in Heat or Spice?
There is a light in there that is supposed to heat them up I believe. I just run cashews in it.
I've heard these vending machines are extremely heavy and impossible to get down flights of stairs....

hot as in heat.i buy cheap ,sand-blast,paint,stencil second yellow flame color.also have neat looking flashing light behind decal.if you want to learn to restore, paint these projects are a great practice.not good photos but I restore 7up machine and othersDSC00322.JPGDSC00325.JPGDSC00428.JPGDSC00435.JPGDSC00126.JPG
Quoted from flashinstinct:I've heard these vending machines are extremely heavy and impossible to get down flights of stairs....
this hot nut machine is about 29lbs..the light inside does not heat this. have 110volt heater unit you can buy for about 25 bucks.i put peanut decal but this will hold cashews.i have 2 of these right now and really crappy photo from me not do justice.i will send this machine to my retired brother as gift as he was fireman
sorry .my cavalier 7up machine weigh in at about 142lbs, hold bottles .might want to check on this style of cooler as you can get down into basement..i choose this style for the reason you state.take up less space, cheaper to run on electricity.we keep our pins in pole barn but when I die I did not want my sons to have to carry a heavy dog out.pop machines are like pins with prices..all over..keep looking and take time to find the one that fits your needs..my brother keep his ammo locked inside full size coke machines,
Quoted from flashinstinct:I've heard these vending machines are extremely heavy and impossible to get down flights of stairs....
1960's dr pepper machine. My father and I carried ( no dolly) up a flight of stairs into my apt. This was back when I was 225lb and a lazy tub of lard, but it was stupidly heavy. Now that I'm in shape I'd not even consider pulling that kind of stunt again.
Bigger problem is that machines can be noisy. The noise produced can vary machine to machine.
Quoted from Dayhuff:I searched long and hard for a Mountain Dew machine but just kept finding Coke and Pepsi machines everywhere's I looked. Finally found this one on Ebay and picked it up in New York. Best thing I ever bought for the basement.(Click image to enlarge)
Gorgeous machine! To me: Mountain Dew = nectar of the gods.
Good stuff. I want to pickup a plain old "Coke machine" from the 70's or 80's at some point. Not sure why, but they remind me of my childhood more than anything.
Quoted from PinBiohazard:Love myself some Mtn. Dew!
Have you seen what that stuff does to a dead mouse? After being submerged for 30 days the only thing left is the tale.

Yea I have.. But,,, no dew is sitting in anybody's stomach for 30 days... Also, can you imagine what human stomach acid could do to anything? LOL
