We purchased our current house three years ago and it has a tankless water heater and I must say, I'm a huge fan. Our house was built in 2005 and I just replaced the original unit a couple of months ago so they seem to last a decent amount of time. Our replacement cost us $1,800 installed (and that was for the "cheap" one) so it comes at a cost but we have endless hot water now! We're planning on moving in the next year or two and I imagine we'll end up installing a tankless if one isn't already there.
