I'm in the process of space planning for a walkout basement rec room and am experimenting with layouts in Sweet Home 3d (open source room layout software). I was wondering if anyone was aware of any decent pinball CAD objects that could be imported (interested in pool table / shuffleboard object also). I could just draw dimensions, but an actual object would be great for 3d renders, etc.
If anyone has experience with this and can give a shoutout, I'd really appreciate it!
I’m not familiar with that software as I use AutoCAD for all my building drawings. But if I need to create an object I draw out the components in plan layout and and convert them to mass objects. This is where you dictate the height or thickness of the components. Then “assemble” the components to form the whole piece. Then I’ll convert the whole assembled piece to a 3D block. It’s not that detailed and rather blocky but it does the trick. It sounds like a lot of work but it’s actually really fast and easy. It’s basically making blocks of different sizes and stacking them up in the correct order and placement.
Thanks! AutoCAD is more advanced but this is a simplified open source program which follows the same basic principles (and it can import any of the standard formats for CAD objects). I know that I can draw an object to dimension, which I will do if I can't find this, but I'd prefer to be able to do a realistic 3D render that actually looks like a pinball machine if there is something already out there.
After looking around out of curiousity I did find some free cad blocks of pinball machines or pool tables. Not shuffleboard though. Problem is that they aren’t always in a standard cad format that your program can open. They seem to be software specific. Look around, you might find something. Good luck
