I finished the main books and will start to go through the dunk and egg books next.
Quoted from Xerico:If you are in need of a Game Of Thrones fix, I recommend the audio books.
I have been listening to the audio books every time I get in my Truck to go somewhere.
I'm currently about 17 hours into book three.
The audio books are fantastic.

Same thing. Sign up for a free audible trial, download the book, then cancel. Put the speed up to 1.25x
Quoted from spfxted:...or just start watching again from Season 1.....
If you listen to the audio book 1 and watch season 1, it's almost word for word what the say in the books. He basically had the script layed out lol
Quoted from spfxted:Wow! Didn't know that....will have to check out the audio books!
But with the audio books you will have to stop and browse porn every 10 minutes to get the same effect as the show....
there is no way so much sex in these episodes lately/ This season you may have seen skin twice / and it was mostly episode flashbacks to earlier seasons
Latest Vegas odds... I'm taking the Night King at 50-1
Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen 2/3
Daenerys Targaryen 2/1
Jaime Lannister 10/1
Tyrion Lannister 20/1
Cersei Lannister 25/1
Sansa Stark 25/1
Arya Stark 50/1
Bran Stark 50/1
Night King 50/1
Varys 50/1
Euron Greyjoy 100/1
The spin off could be the glory of winter fell.
With Sansa arya bran and the rest that live...
I'd like to drop a bet on game of thrones. Fun stuff.
You think this show is going to end with the night king ending up on top? Only way that happens is if they make him human again. The dead are 100% going to lose. Padrick has a better chance.
Odds are not good on the main players. No money there. I would bet john snow dies to save someone. I think bran dies taking out the night king. Arya is to dark to end up on top. Cersei is going to die. Jamie will die either killing cersei or saving a main character. So if I was going to put money down looking for a payday, Tyrion or Sansa.

come on, Bran Stark at only 50/1. Should be 1000/1 odds. if bran stark is the one to bring him down, that would be one of the biggest upsets in all of westeros.

I don't get this. I don't think anyone is going to "win" the game of thrones. This is not a comedy. It will not end with a happy ending. I think everyone on that list will die. If anyone is going to live from the main characters it will be Sam, I believe that in the end he will be shown as the author of the story.

So take the "empty throne" odds. Its not on the list but from my understanding you can put money on an "empty throne".
Quoted from Mrbill:You think this show is going to end with the night king ending up on top?
I sure hope so!

seems like the show runners are touching every point to make fans happy now that they are past the books. I just hope they don't do bran going back in time and stopping them from making the night king in the first place... That would be as lame as lost was.

I am really coming around to the fact that everyone dies and this is just a book written by someone else (possibly Sam).
I really hope HBO doesn't go with the happy happy ending of Dany and Jon becoming king and queen with Tyrion as their hand and Jaime as their Kings guard, Sansa ruling the north with bran ECT. Too many things point to death at the throne.

This was foreshadowed when the maester was telling Sam about the name of the book that he was writing. Sam commented that the name could be something more poetic. I think sams book will be called the story of ice and fire.

A song office and fire?
At the end who will be left?
Either Sam and his wife and kid OR the big red haired guy and the big blond girl...so they can have HUGE babies.....
I know George RR Martin has given us plenty of surprises. He has killed off his main cast, his characters are complex with shades of grey and he has blurred the lines within his character archetypes, but in the end, I think it will end up being the classic heroes journey: ORPHAN-WANDERER-WARRIOR-MARTYR
John Snow is the protagonist and starts out literally an orphan, a bastard child. Then his journey of self discovery at (and beyond) the wall. Now he has become the hero, the King of the North, the prince that was promised. In the end, he will no doubt martyr himself for the good of the people. Classic heroes journey and I love it.
Quoted from CobraClutch:After seeing the Night King kill a dragon a coworker and I have been throwing around the idea of Cersi joining his team (Night Queen?) since the lannisters are weakening and her giant crossbow couldnt finish the job.
Now that would be an incredible twist. How would she make the deal with him though?

Could happen, although in think completing this journey will cost him more than he could imagine, maybe even his humanity.
I dunno, i kind of picture the ending of GOT to be similar to the ending of this video....With the Night Kings army/ Snow's Army / And Cersi's army all setup for one final epic battle; and then....
Quoted from TigerLaw:Now that would be an incredible twist. How would she make the deal with him though?
Yeah, we haven't figure that out yet lol. Evil recognize evil? I have been wondering if we will ever hear any voice from the Night King before the show's end.
With her commitment to watching the world burn I could see her making her way north, slowly approaching the Night King, seducing him, trying to stab him in the back and getting put back in check by his silent mind control and killed by him. I dunno, just spitballing here.
Bumping this thread back up for the new season. Episode 1 was a bit slow with everyone catching up and some setup for future episodes.
Quick question. Where TF is Ghost? Are we just supposed to pretend that Jon never had a kickass direwolf? Nice to see they have a budget for sappy dragon riding but direwolves and elephants are out.
I got a good laugh at Jaime showing up in Winterfell. "Well, I finally made it. Let me just pop my hood off and take a look around and oohhh FUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCK."
I'm bad with all the names. What was the scene about with the one dude giving the other dude a crossbow? Things get fuzzy after a year off.
Quoted from Schabs81:She wants him to kill her brother with the same cross bow he killed their father with
I thought he said "brothers".
Quoted from Methos:I thought he said "brothers".
Yes she did. I'm going to assume that one of them uses the crossbow to kill her, but maybe that's too obvious.
I just remembered that we should have the Clegane bowl coming up too. They set it up last season so hopefully they go through with it.
Quoted from Luckydogg420:I though it was a great episode. Hit all the right bases to move the season along.
I agree. Tons of twists already stirring.
+ Daenerys choosing to kill the Tarley’s is coming back to bite her. She could very well become a villain in the end like the mad king.
+ Jon Snow riding a dragon was bad ass. The dragons know (i think) Jon has Targaryen blood flowing through him. This may play a huge role in the later episodes.
+ I hope Arya still has a role to play as a kick ass assasin.
+ Jamie showing up at winterfell only to see Bran was classic!
Quoted from BillySastard:I just remembered that we should have the Clegane bowl coming up too. They set it up last season so hopefully they go through with it.
The axe with a dragonglass blade that can take down a white walking mountain
Here we go. So we can leave the poor GOT ‘pinball’ owners at peace
A few take aways from last night:
+ The dragon battles were cool; I was really hoping Jon would have taken on that undead dragon 1v1 a little more and even slay it.
+ Arya delivering the death blow to the knight king, hell yea! Love her. She’s killed the Knight King, Littlefinger (w/Sansa), and lord Frey. Is Cersi next?
+ did the dragon Jon was riding die?

Rhaegal is still alive, as is Ghost. Both appeared in the preview for next episode.
I really wish they weren't rushing so quickly to the finish. There's been plenty of material to make 2 full seasons out of.
I predicted that the snow king would be defeated by the middle of season 8. I was close on that.
To sit on the Iron Throne my sure shot was John Snow, my long shot Samuel Tully.
I'm changing that to Arya sitting on the Iron Throne. Daenerys kills Jon and maybe Sansa, Arya kills Daenerys and takes the throne. Maybe shot - Arya kills Daenerys and puts Sansa on the throne.
LTG : )
It was definitely a white knuckle ride of an episode for me, but once over there was a whole lot for me to unpack. I thought it was the sloppiest written episode of the series and they destroyed the whole series by killing the knight king. For 8 seasons and 5 books we were lead to believe that "Winter is Coming" and that the WW were these supreme beings that brought about the original long night that lasted a generation and needed the first men and the children of the forest to defeat. But this time it only took one night? Come on.
I could write a whole dissertation on what else was wrong with the episode, but no one wants to read that. I'm just unbelievably disappointed the Cersei is the final boss to the series.
Quoted from aobrien5:Cersei kills Jon and Dany. Arya kills Cersei so Tyrion can take the throne... and remarry Sansa...
Pretty close to my predicted outcome.
The best in Lord of the Rings books for me was when the hobbits came back home from the war and saw that everything had changed and they had changed too. But it was not enough of this stuff, it still had the classic happy end like so many other fairy tales and fantasy books. Game of Thrones will be something else. The big bad boss is dead, the big threat is over, but there is still this crazy stupid fight for the power, the Game of Thrones. Who will rule? Who will have the power? Is that important? Would it make a difference for the folk if Dany or Cersei wins? If they had put the battle with the Night King at the end of the show, we could have got a good or a bad ending, nothing else. So now I am way more excited how it will go on and end.
My prediction still is the same as before. Dany will die, because now that her army is almost not excistend she will try to conquer Kings Landing with her dragon. The dragon will be killed and she too by Cersei, this will be shockingly brutal. Jon and the rest will come to late and he can only try to avenge her. They will all die in the dragon pits in a big explosion. The Hound and the Mountain will get their battle. Someone will kill Cersei, don't know who, perhaps one of her brothers or Arya. Hmm, perhaps the kingslayer will become a queen slayer too and kill his sister, that would fit. Arya will survive all this and end on the throne with gendry or she will leave the game of thrones and the continent for a different life. That would leave Sansa on the throne. Sam will write all down.
What I still don't get is why the Night King was realy after Bran. I don't know what Bran did in the big battle, but I think sitting there and switching in crows was
not the only thing he did. Perhaps we will get the true story about the Night King, the Others and the Starks in the prequel.
