Here a short revieuw about a Stern Game of Thrones Pro on route after two years. The game is at the basement of an hotel next to the hotelbar. On the day there is almost nobody there, most plays are at night. All players are casual players of the hotel.

Outside of the cabinet:
After this period the cabinet is still pretty good dondition, there a a few dimples around the buttons but the rest of the machine looks like new.

Playfield:
The shooting lane has some wear. One slingshot plastic has broken and the ram misses a screw and therefor it is kind a loose, but not a big issue. The rubbers are getting old and need to be replaced.

Problems on route:
Besides an broken rubber, coins stuck in the machine there were no techincal problems. The quality seems just fine for a machine who is on power 24/7. Visiting the location every month to check and clean. The most problems we had with not an original Stern flipper rebuild kit so we had to replace that within a week because the flipper didnot went down quick enough.

Updating:
Now just installed Convolux as an protection of the plastics, unfortually there are only six protection plastics in the set i bought. Also changed the rubbers for silicon rubbers, replaced one led bulb and installed an ball shoot protector. Ofcours cleaning the playfield and some testing.

Bookkeeping:
Most games are with three balls a game, some periods with 4 balls a game. Casual player mode
Long ball save timer
Easy rules

Payment:
Since a year we installee a Nayax payment system so customers can pay with a bankcard or creditcard. It is not allowed to charge extra for fee, so the price a game is the same as for coins.
Pricing: 1 euro one game of three balls, 4 euro for 5 games.

Audits:
Total balls played: 29320
Total plays: 7792
Average scores: 38612.950
Ball serch started: 516
Lost ball feeds: 36
Lost ball game starts: 3
Left drains: 4128 (small middle outlanes)
Right drains: 5042 ( small middle outlanes)
Center drains: 20150
Average ball time: 0:41
Average game time: 2:59
Tilts: 167
Left loop: 0972
Right loop: 49890
Left ramp: 29237
Right ramp: 6297
Dragon kickback: 19050
Battering ramp: 19910
Total balls saved: 18281 (long ball save time per ball)
Left flipper used: 369874
Right flipper used: 524127
0-1 minute games: 43
1-2 minute games: 1752
2-3 minute games: 1651 1386
3-4 minute games: 982 699
4-5 minute games: 824
5-6 minute games: 290
6-8 minute games: 140
8-10 minute games: 15
10-15 minute games: 2
15 minute plus games: 0

Our conclusion, a good quality game, fun to play, the location liked the machine. But compared to the pooltable, airhockey and even the soccertable the pinball has least earnings of all.

Wow that average ball time seems really short with the outlanes closed all the way, when it ships with fully open.

Interesting stats!

Mylar on the shooter lane would minimize further damage.

Way too few tilts for that many plays is the first thing I thought! Clearly casual players

#5 4 years ago

I know what pool table, airhockey and pinball machines are but what’s a soccer table ? Foosball?

Foosball table

The machine has been on for how long and how many times has it been turned off?
How does the plastic ramps look and is there any wear on the inlane switches?
Was there ever a node board failure? Is there any cabinet splitting? Ghosting or dimples?
Thanks for documenting this. Good things to know about GOT pro.

#8 4 years ago

THink GOT was before the cabinet splitting but I was for sure looking for ghosting myself.

don't know how many of games are 5 for 4 euros but even if they were all 4 for 5 it made over 6200 euros in 2 years . seems like a decent return , how much does a stern pro cost in Amsterdam?

Around this cost. Which keans he's not even yet as he has to share the income.
Selling the table would maybe get him to do some profit.

Those are some beautiful in lanes!

I have to wonder if the game had a topper would it make more of a difference with sales?

#13 4 years ago

I don't think you can compare pinball to the 3 games you mentioned. Those 3 are competitive games and you can slow the pace of all of them.

Pinball is more of a solo game and casual players can't slow down the pace. They probably feel they get more "bang for their buck" playing air hockey, foosball, and pool.

#14 4 years ago

The worse you play pool or foosball, the longer you play. Pinball is quite the opposite.

Bookkeeping:
Most games are with three balls a game, some periods with 4 balls a game. Casual player mode

GOT is one of those games where choosing casual player mode will severely limit the gameplay. I remember a distributor telling me that games shipped with that mode standard and you had to make a change in adjustments to allow players to choose any of the available houses, and play the whole game. After playing the game in casual mode for a short while, it was clear that casual mode wasn't the best choice for my location. GOT is a game with a strong element of strategy as you can choose different houses and play the game differently depending on your house selection.

After 21,000+ plays, GOT is still doing well on location and has some fan favorites. Over 150 of these plays are over 15 minutes long, so there are some strong players frequenting the game. In all those plays, I have had to replace all the opto switches-some more than twice, about a dozen rollover switches, an SD card, repaired broken wires at all the stand up targets, swapped out one node board, replaced the sword lock bracket, rebuilt flippers several times including replacing three EOS actuators, and LEDs and rubber as needed. Playfield is holding up fine.

#16 4 years ago

My got pro was middle of the pack earnings wise on and off for a year. Pulled it a few moths back for some fresh blood in the lineup. I only have space for 4 pins at the location so got is home now and will stay home. Game has more than paid for itself so I don’t mind a free got at home!

While on route, very few issues and no board failures. Cabinet and play field have held up very well.

#17 4 years ago

The game is always on power, never turned off (besides players who turn it of and on sometimes). There was about € 7000 in the cashbox with a split ofcours with the location.

On the playfield there are some dimpels, but when it was new you saw them better, after a while the fade away for the first impression. No cabinet issues, no node boards needed. The machine costs here about 6000 including taxes for the GoT.

Dont forget that every month visits, overhead costst, small repairs take a lot of the revenue. The machine now goed to another location and here we placed an NIB new Stern machine.

The ramps looks fine, playfiels also. Only placed a protector now for the ball shooter lane to protect for further damaging.

The machine is still on route, after last post i moved it at an location where it was no succes, very low plays.
After that location replaced to an bowling location with three pinballs: Terminator 3, Dracula and Game of Thrones. The Terminator 3 was the best earning of the three pinballs. We reduced to two pinballs, we placed an Jurassic Park Pro next to the terminator 3.
The Game of Thrones placed on an new hotel location. Here two times an technical problem. One time the right flipper didnt work because the plunger was broken. Both flippers rebuild with new spareparts so it plays like new. The protection plastic in the shooterlane has an broken part so the ball stucks sometimes so that removed. Only one spring of the droptargets was broken. Game plays very good and the machine looks very nice.

Updates?

#23 10 months ago

Update: machine is still at the same location, without big problems. Then only thing wat happens are the rubbers /silconen rubbers which break at the slingshots. Every three/four months they break and cause an problem, balls stuck. Because we use Nayax we see it when machines is out of power so we know to visit the location. We first call location first and when neccesary we visit and solve the problem. Machines works great and still looks great and new.

So good investment this Stern machine.

#24 10 months ago

We changed the below slingshot in red version to see if that prevents the rubbers break down. That didnt work thats been damaged in four months, so back to normal.

[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Well, if you have all the correct sling posts on, it will help with the sling rubber breakage. You're completely missing the top plastic post in that picture. EDIT: Perhaps the non-stock star post broke after the rubber did. Replace with the correct size post and not a star post...

Also, those balls are NASTY. Spend a couple bucks on new balls.

#26 10 months ago

The original post also had the broking rubbers after few months, we will next time use other rubbers. We tried to replace the post for the red starpost but that one broke within four months. Now the original post are in, photo was during replacement. I think in a few months we do some maintenance for cleaning, new rubbers, new balls etcetera. Machine is 24/7 on power and plays very well, great game. These photos are from december 22, when we did the red starpost on it

Just that little extra circumference that the star post adds might be enough extra tension to wear the rubber faster. Are you running 2 1/2" or 2 1/4" rubbers on it?

Not sure, i think the 2 1/4. My colleque placed larger ones on it. But all Sterns pinballs we operate has the problem the rubbers / sillicon rubbers are fast broken. We tried different brands.

2 1/4" is too tight, and then you made it tighter by using a larger diameter post, so it's closer to the tension of a 2" rubber with factory posts - WAY too tight. Likely the cause of your issues. Just put stock size 2 1/2" good quality white rubber (marco specialties makes the best in the US, no idea about Europe, but here is some very bad quality rubber out there) on the slings with the correct factory-sized posts and change the massively wasted balls out. Should help your issue substantially.

Just for reference I ran a GoT Prem on location for about 4 years with moderate traffic and changed the sling rubbers twice. But I didn't care about aesthetics, just performance, so I ran Marco white rubber on it.

Another technical update,
1: we placed an new spinner assembly because it didnt work good enough, we could bend it but bought an new assembly.
2: new rebuild kit original Stern, not because it was needed but just to be sure.
3: one wire was broken from eos switch, that solved.
4: the lock with the sword was not working, i mean the white uppost. Just broken plastic spare so we replaced rhe whole mechanism.
5: we cleaned the playfield and replaced a few rubbers.
6: new balls

Machine is 24/7 on power and quality is very good of this machine and still looks like new. Great game.
I think another year or two and then this game gets the retirement on route and a new place at my home.

DaanNL much love for these updates.
THANK YOU
May we get the total number of plays?
When you get a chance can you take a pic of the back box that shows the built date.
Pics of shooter lane and in lanes / out lanes where ball drop and any other playfield wear.
How are the playfield dimples?
My GOT pro is bolted to the floor along w/my BSD.
Your posts help me understand what to expect later.

Bedankt!

#34 3 months ago

I will take next time pictures, but dont visit the location very often because it stays in good working condition. Playfield dimples were at the beginning visable but later they faded away. Machine still looks good i think that there is around 15000 credits on the counter, so with extra free games some more.
