I've always found that style goofy looking and unpolished/unfinished. Basically, the fisher-price of pinball playfield artwork.
Quoted from LesManley:Nope.
"We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the initial photos of the machines. While the premium artwork is yet to be revealed the playfields are shown as they intend to be produced."
Quoted from Lermods:Real voices from the show or character actor voices?
Probably that hillbilly voice again like on TWD
Quoted from DefaultGen:Do you want games to ship weeks after the reveal or do you want a 3 year ongoing development cycle after a game is revealed.
A finished, polished game would be better IMHO. That includes ditching the big shapes and primary colors on the playfield.
An epic theme deserves some epic artwork.
Quoted from Law:What everyone is forgetting to account for is that Stern is now in the mod business. There will be an alternate castle available.
Yeah, but you can't mod the playfield or cabinet artwork...
Quoted from chuckwurt:I agree with most that the artwork leaves some to be desired, but I wonder once we see actual games, the artwork will look better? the computer generated images I think make it look more goofy than it will on the actual game. Wishful thinking I am sure, but just a thought.
It won't look much different unless they actually make alterations. The artwork looks goofy because of the design, not the medium. It's not going to magically look better in reality.
The show logo with sunlight blasting behind it--wouldn't that look awesome on a big LCD in the backbox?
Now set that next to the fisher-price playfield artwork.
Blech. Quite a missed opportunity here--the show is just so full of rich source material. Lots of artwork, architecture, characters, costumes, creatures, and not to mention all the mode/quest possibilities, jackpot and multiball modes staged as battles---it could be an epic theme. This is why everyone has been so excited about seeing a GOT theme and why they have been so let down by what has been presented so far.
I'd say take this one back to the drawing board, do it right, bring on some advisors/fans familiar with the show, and in the meantime just to keep the assembly line occupied, maybe churn out some more VE's or whatnot.
