No offense, but that playfield artwork is rather cheezy. Especially if this is supposed to compete with Hobbit.
Quoted from jwwhite15:Can't you post them here?!
Pictures have already been posted in the It's Official! Next Stern is Game Of Thrones thread

There should be a drinking game on how many times the phrase "Stay Tuned!" was uttered in that FB post......

Haha yeah I thought that too. Love the stolen MM archer plastics.
This looks like a more fun layout to me, more than most of the recent Sterns have been. Looking forward to giving this game a whirl.
A little bummed ...... Kiss looks better // But I LOVE SR AND GOT .... Big time bummed .. Hope for the best
I understand Stern wants to stay ahead of the game and continue to produce as many titles as possible, but it seems like just yesterday we were getting excited about Wrestlemania. Then the excitement for KISS, and now here we are with GoT. More is not always better, IMO. On the other end of the spectrum you have JJP, who takes a lifetime to release their games (1 title in 2+ years, yikes).

Ritchie is famous for making giant inserts the focal point of the playfield rather than artwork, see ST, ACDC, T2, T3, etc... I agree though, the art package is overall disappointing, no where near LOTR/TH quality (if we are keeping to the same genre).

Stern always releases 3 games/year, it's not like this is an accelerated schedule.

And think if they actually slowed down and took the time to make a game as beautiful and challenging as Wizard of Oz. I haven't had the privilege of seeing a Hobbit in person (yet), but I'm sure that when I do I will be just as blown away as I was with WoZ.
I'll take quality over quantity any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
Any one come up with an alternative backglass yet? That is what is killing me right now.
Seriously, When I saw the backglass for the LE, I almost thought that stern had announced they were going to manufacture the Big Lebowski, then squinted more and saw it actually was game of thrones.

How do you compete with a game you can't buy?
Quoted from CrazyLevi:How do you compete with a game you can't buy?
You can buy it. That's never been the issue.
I've always found that style goofy looking and unpolished/unfinished. Basically, the fisher-price of pinball playfield artwork.
What is up with no GOT specific art on the pf, persons, animals, places, nothing. It is all generic...
And the pro is NERFED...HARD. Probably flows super fast, but just looks lacking like crazy :/ Maybe the rules/shots chart will shed some light.
The LE looks quite good. The pro seems pretty generic.
As always, I think the rules will be the deciding factor of whether it's a great game.
This game looks like shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it april 1st already?
Not digging the 1980 layout. Looks like BK all over again.
Granted, SR is the king, but man, no LCD, crappy artwork, looks like a filler title, I'm sorry.
Hoping this is just Prototype release?

I kept seeing that and thinking that maybe they'd retract the art and go back to the drawing board. Particularly Jared's comment of "Stay Tuned. Lot's of wheels turning." got me hoping that they'd try and redo the art package.

Nope.
"We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the initial photos of the machines. While the premium artwork is yet to be revealed the playfields are shown as they intend to be produced."
Quoted from LesManley:Nope.

Quoted from Lermods:Real voices from the show or character actor voices?
Probably that hillbilly voice again like on TWD
Quoted from Shapeshifter:LE backglass has a WWE feel about it.
Agreed. I thought of NBA, ELVIS too
Quoted from centerflank:Fucking redo the artwork Stern!
Do you want games to ship weeks after the reveal or do you want a 3 year ongoing development cycle after a game is revealed.
Quoted from DefaultGen:Do you want games to ship weeks after the reveal or do you want a 3 year ongoing development cycle after a game is revealed.
A finished, polished game would be better IMHO. That includes ditching the big shapes and primary colors on the playfield.
An epic theme deserves some epic artwork.

Something in the middle?
Edit----besides, I hear all their new decals just fall off anyway so that should speed up the process.
Quoted from ForceFlow:A finished, polished game would be better IMHO. That includes ditching the big shapes and primary colors on the playfield.

A licensed theme deserves crappy, licensed artwork, and that's what we are getting here.
There hasn't been an "epic theme" in pinball in many, many years. We get what we deserve and since all we want is licensed crap this is what we get. Sometimes it turns out better than others but in the artwork department we are obviously 0-2 when it comes to HBO themes. Can't wait for Curb Your Enthusiasm!
Quoted from rufessor:Would it kill them to make an original game-
The premium doesn't look like too many other games. Sure it has elements of other games in there, but you can't look at it and say "2 ramps, 2 loops, and a bash toy, great another generic Stern!".
