RIP RIP Threads
Sad to hear.
I saw him in Minneapolis many years ago. His first appearance here. It was in Orchestra Hall.
What a sight to see. People must buy season tickets to Orchestra Hall. Many men and women arrived in tuxes and evening gowns. A lot of them had good seats up front. They obviously didn't know what a Gallagher was. We knew this was going to be good.
The people all dressed up seemed curious about the first eight rows covered in plastic. And people seated amongst them wearing rain coats, hats, and goggles.
Gallagher appears on stage. Starts the show. Shortly thereafter "you've read about it, you've heard about it, it's sledgeomatic !" Out comes a table with a watermelon on it. Gallagher swings the Sledgeomatic up over his head and back. Swings it forward. WHAM !
All the people dressed up in tuxes and gowns ran for the door. Many were dripping with watermelon residue. What a great show. I was there. About ten rows back and on the left, out of watermelon spray.
Gallagher never appeared there again. his next show in Minneapolis was at the Orpheum Theater.
My condolences to his family, friends, and many fans.

No idea who this guy was but thanks to PinSide and its informative 'RIP' threads, I've had the chance to enjoy a few hours of Gallagher's madness on YouTube.
A very funny guy. He wouldn't been a smash hit in the UK... just our kind of humour.
