I will be sure to update this post when the glass arrives. It's just one of those things I guess... took about 3.5 months for him to ship my Gottlieb Olympics backglass. First time buying from him. This is one he had listed on Mr. Pinball Classifieds which he made sound like he had on hand ready to ship. Any blank spots in the message chain are sensitive material Ive censored like email addresses, physical addresses, etc.

Is this normal for Shay? I dont think its the end of the world or anything but Id like people to know, and get feedback on if this is standard for him. I understand when BGResto takes a while because they have to make the glass, and Stephen has been good about communicating to me the reason for any delays.

After my first dozen interactions on mr pinball I just assumed all posts were a scam

Sadly, that's what I've come to know about Mr. Pinball, too. Shay's got a fully fleshed out website that makes ordering easy and his shipping is typically USPS Priority Mail. Plus, most of his backglasses are typically over $275 each. Hate to say it, but I think you got scammed. I'd call Shay Arcade Group directly and ask about your transaction.

Don't buy thru Mr. Pinball classifieds due to scams. If you see something you like try to find that company or person directly due to so many spoofed ads.
    Best of luck.

Quite a lot of us will have purchased parts from Shay over the years. I know I've made payments via PayPal to 2 separate accounts depending on whether or not it's been a Shay Arcade Group sale or something from Shay's own collection. If you post the PayPal email address you sent your payment too, we'll be able to tell you if it was a genuine sale. Or send it to me in a PM and I'll respond.

    #6 11 months ago

I've bought from Shay through his website with no problems at all.

    #7 11 months ago

I've bought 2 glasses from him in the past, both times picked up in person at Allentown show. No problems, great product!

    #8 11 months ago

I’ve never had any issues with Shay. I either call him or message him on Facebook when I buy a glass. I don’t think he would sell a glass as cheap as $150 however, which makes me question if it’s a mr pinball scam.

    #9 11 months ago

It certainly seems like a scam, but why would the scammer keep responding after receiving the payment. Is the scammer trying to drag this on for a certain timeframe so a chargeback cannot be done? It sounds like the payment was made as a "goods or services" as there was a fee. I assume that means you can contact paypal within a certain time from purchase and start the refund process through them.

    #10 11 months ago

Once I ordered a glass off his site that was not in stock but still had listed on his site. When it didn’t ship and I sent a message he had my refund issued same day.

    #11 11 months ago

When you contacted Shay through his website contact information, what did he say?

    #12 11 months ago

Shay is legit, you shouldn't worry. But you should change the negative sounding title of this thread.

The real question is why are you responding to anything on Mr. Pinball?

Several months back he posted about having a selection of backglasses available at that price.

    #14 11 months ago

I accept that I could very well have been scammed but I dont think I was. From this same number I have pics of a backglass I was considering buying but never did. This was over a year ago. I dont think a scammer would keep the same phone number for that long.

I will not change the title, as I am having a negative experience. I will change it either when I can say beyond a reasonable doubt Ive been scammed, or I get the glass.

    #15 11 months ago

I understand why you would feel that way, but what if it’s not Shay you are dealing with and a scammer is using his name to lure potential victims?

    #16 11 months ago

Have you tried to call him? A real conversation can go a long ways to sorting out if the ad was legit.

    YMMV

    Quoted from Monk:

I confirmed the phone number with the OP. It's the same number I have for Shay. So, this is unlikely to be a random Internet scammer.

    Quoted from Knxwledge:

I will not change the title, as I am having a negative experience.

    That's perfectly valid.

If/when the glass does arrive, make sure to open the box upon arrival (well, as soon as it acclimates to room temperature) and inspect the glass to make sure it's the right one, rather than just setting it aside and assuming that it's correct.

The issue was not wether Shay was a good guy or not, or if his website was ok or not. It was the fact that the interaction started from a post on Mr. Pinball, a site that is almost 100% scam posts. That's what we were worried about as it's extremely easy for a scammer to pose as someone with goods to sell, post a spoofed number with the correct area code you'd expect to see, and before you know it, you're out a couple hundred dollars and they're untraceable as they've moved on to another number and a different PayPal account.

Now that ForceFlow has confirmed that it is in fact Shay that the OP is dealing with, everything should be ok.

Is it acceptable that payment was made by the buyer September 28th and he still hasn’t received the glass? “I goofed up, sent it to the wrong address, overslept, got a flat tire…”

Thank you. While I know Shay has a good reputation, Im not happy with how this has gone down. Just stringing me along on excuses for months, for a glass he didnt even have to make. I wanted people to know about my poor transaction with him

Yes, it’s acceptable. Shit happens. It’s not his full-time job. Don’t see the big deal. Dude has a 25-year history of delivering and not ripping anybody off and it doesn’t look like anybody is getting ripped off here.

It’s not like the buyer has at any time requested a refund, he’s just cranky at the delay and looking to embarrass the seller.

All of this seems pretty unnecessary to me but everybody is entitled to their opinion.

I have to disagree with you and I like Shay. However, as a business this really is unacceptable how this customer has been strung along. Shit does happen and this one has become a complete shit-show. That is on Shay, not the buyer. I don't care if this is ultra part time for Shay, it's not an excuse and the buyer has been strung along for almost 3 months.

I do agree that this sucks and I also agree that Shay will get this all corrected.

If he's busy with his other job, was on vacation, had family issues, whatever.... it would be nice if he told me. This isnt how you do customer service. This isnt how you run a business

I don't understand the trashing of Mr. Pinball Classifieds. Yeah, you get a lot of scammers responding to your ads, but I've bought and sold many items over the years based on Mr. Pinball ads, and never had a problem. Scammers are pretty stupid, and easy to detect. I'm pretty sure Shay's ad was legit.

Mr pinball really should be closed down at this point. I agree with what you say if we are talking about circa 2005 but these days it’s completely worthless. For machines It must be 75 percent or worse scams or ads that should have been deleted months ago.

    Of course it did.

Sorry you had to wait three months. A true tragedy.

    #28 11 months ago

Levi, sell me something for $222 including PayPal fees and shipping. I’ll send you the money 3 months after I receive the goods. You’d be good with that right?

Fuck off, if you can't in good faith understand the complaint Im making, why even continue to comment?
