Why would you go to all that trouble & not pull the siderails to paint?
It's not that difficult.

Maybe he just wanted to piss you off.

Nice work Dresslock. You can always go one step further than the next guy. That's a fine looking future Spa.

I was scared to take them off of my first one too, but it's not that bad really. If you scratch up the siderail taking it off you can easily regrain it with some sandpaper & steel wool.
The problem I had with my last project is that the nail holes were oversized & would not solidly re-secure the siderail to the cabinet, plus the holes were not straight. I ended up drilling the holes oversize - 3/8" & about 1/2" deep. Filled these with epoxy, leveled with my dremel, then placed the siderail on & redrilled pilot holes. Tapped the spiral nails in & all is good! Nice, tight & straight.
Pinball resource has these special nails.

Did you re-pin the connectors? I have had a couple of Bally's from that vintage & I never did get them to run right w/o re-pinning virtually all of the connectors.

Even if red is somehow the correct color, it still looks wrong to me. Meh.

Nice job!

Future Spa is a great wide body pin. Totally worth restoring.

Salut,

Congratulation for the result.
I have finished my Future Spa recently as well and it is worth every hour spent.

Only negative point: The colored LEDs really do not fit to this game in the GI and the backbox. I'm ok for the inserts, but in the other places it simply kills the nice artwork (my personal opinion).

Cheers,
flugs

If you get a chance guys - watch the PAPA videos on Future Spa ... great tactics and overall coverage for an under-appreciated pin.

Wow...great job! I have a soft spot in my heart for future spa! It might be cheesy, but it's still great!

And it's great because it's cheezy ... and a widebody ... making it extra cheezy.

Great Job and a true restore. I like the fact that you took the time to restore original components rather than buying them off the shelf.
