What does everyone have their "special when lit" set to? Is there a way to adjust it that i'm not seeing?

I've been messing with dip settings 6 and 7. My machine won't award extra ball when it hits the target at the end of the drops, just 25,000, which is fine since I have it set to 5 ball. But the next shot (special) only scores 500 despite the dip settings saying it should score a replay or 50,000 (depending on the setting.)

Joining the club on Saturday. Anyone have a flyer for it?

#304 2 years ago

Joined the club on Friday. GI lights are dim though. Removed solder and soldered the pins again. Better but not horror 100%. Pushed GI connector down and LEDs became much brighter. Going to pull clips out and see if I can squeeze them together to make better contact with the pins.

Nice one! It’s totally worth the work to re-pin the connectors. I’d also do the power supply rebuild per vids guide.

Picked up this Future Spa Cabinet. It's in descent shape. I need a Backbox display door panel with the harness and a lockdown bar. Thanks

Just picked up a Future Spa this last weekend at an estate sale for a good price. It's going to need the normal repairs for a machine of this age, but the playfield looks to be in great condition and should clean up well.

Trying to understand the proper behaviour for the yellow "Spots Letter When Lit" lamp (left side of playfield) and the white "Targets Spot Letters When Lit" lamp (below the inline targets).
Mine rotate thru a sequence of 'only white on' -> 'only yellow on' -> 'both off' with each successive hit of a pop bumper. (Never both on at once). It looks a bit spastic when the ball is pinballing around in the pop bumper nest. Is that the correct behaviour? Are there any other switches that change the state of these lamps besides the pops?

Watched some gameplay videos on you tube and saw several different behaviours with respect to this...some videos show one or both of these lamps lit at start and they stay lit (that doesn't seem to be correct). Another video or two where the lamps start off, but then come on at some point (?) during a ball and stay on until end of ball...

#311 2 years ago

I would think, but not sure it would be a setting that is changeable by the CPU switches and/or programing. That's why you see different scenarios on YouTube as its owner changeable. Would look at the manual to adjust as you like.

Hope this helps....Mike

#312 2 years ago
Quoted from yendor0:

There’s a dip switch that changes between 1) both are always on, and 2) alternate between out kicker spots on, drop spots on, both off. Changes with hit of a pop bumper, sling, or scoring rubber (like above right flipper).

Future Spa - this was my first try spray painting with stencils and I am quite happy with the results.

WOW, excellent job! Love the red rubber and red stars on the X bonus it really ties in with the playfield. Well done you should be proud of your restoration. Would like to see some pictures of the overall completed project when you get a chance.

Thanks. That’s from Jeff at Classic Arcades. There are complaints in this thread about those. I emailed the guy through eBay and he never answered. Unfortunately they look like the only ones around.

I’m wondering what’s the best way to remove the peeling paint from the apron. Sand it off or chemical stripper? I want to strip it down to the bare metal. This wouldn’t be lead paint, would it?

#320 2 years ago

Paint stripper. Comes off pretty easily as it is.

only a 1600 mile trip...LOL!

Working condition? Certainly not!

Good deal...Yep!

Sure hope to figure out the hacks on the Rectifier Board...it's a mess!

I know this has been asked before and sure there's a thread on this, but can someone tell me what to do to repair peeling art work on a back glass and/or direct me to a thread that shows the process.

Try searching for "Krylon triple thick." That's what everyone uses to preserve what's there.

I'll do some research and give it a try.

Thanks, just finished bringing it back from the dead. New Alltek CPU, new sound board, rebuilt high voltage for the displays and rebuilt the power supply. Cleaned, rebuilt flippers, repaired minor issues and added LEDs. Plays fast and fun.

I am preparing to do a hardtop installation on my Future Spa and figured I would replace all of the inserts. Several are severly cupped. However I am having little luck locating some of them. Any assistance sourcing them would be appreciated.

Thought about filling with 2PAC instead?

#332 2 years ago
Quoted from radium:

Thought about filling with 2PAC instead?

I have. I am concerned about how long I would have to wait for off gassing. I don't want to put down the hard top and get something weird happen like bubbles or hazing. I figured replacements would be simpler.

Getting a Future Spa soon. Has anyone attempted the 7digit display upgrade yet? If so, any issues to be aware of?

Do you really think future spa needs a 7 digit upgrade? Future Spa is not really generous giving points... I think it's more the later 6-digit-pinballs that tend to roll over...

I wonder if you wouldn't have a better experience crafting them. I believe I made some high quality scans of the plastics I got in a NOS playfield assembly somewhere if you ever need them, I can look.

I suppose that's got to be a thing people do...?

Found this Future Spa backglass that I don't need, if anyone needs it PM me a reasonable offer. Missing the bottom channel, looks like the channel will cover up a lot of the crap at the bottom. The bottom looks like it's starting to peel but it's actually attached to the glass pretty good. I have a good box I can pack it in but we all know shipping a backglass isn't cheap, or of course can be picked up in Smithtown Long Island.

Picked this up yesterday, 700 mile round trip with my wife and our dog. Dog had to squeeze in on the way back though, these things are wide!
All working, the cab needs doing as faded and a few playfield touch ups but all good and present.

Just finished the gloss work today but I have a question. When does the gold splatter go on?
I thought it might be straight after the white goes on but someone said it might be after all the paint is on after the stencils.
It didn’t look like there was any on the red or purple when I stripped it.
Thanks.

It looks to me like it’s your next step looking at the IPDB. My FS cab has a poor quality repaint and is totally lacking the gold splatter.
