I've actually gone through Elk City several times. It's about 35 miles north of my Dads home town of Mangum OK.
Wish I had gone on Rte 66 thru there last time I drove through in 2017.

Elk City is the nearest town to where my in-laws lived (Hammon, OK) and I've been there literally hundreds of times. That sign always cracks me up a little driving through town just before the KFC (often on my way to the United grocery store - sign shown a little at the bottom left).

Unfortunately, I went through town on I-40 Going to Missouri last time I went, and went down to Lawton and Altus (my Mothers home town) on the way back so I never got to see it. I need to take 66 more often going through towns more if I drive back there again.

We weren't allowed soda as children but we could have as much Quik and iced tea from mix as we wanted..... so a heaping scoop is what we used, and you had to chug it. I don't think my mom knew how much sugar was in them, but if you're drinking a glass made with enough mix for a pitcher, you're going to get a little hyper...
