I hope the guy who made that meme that has problems setting his kitchen and car clocks doesn't own a pinball machine... that will really melt his brain. If he needs a Masters in electronic engineering to set an oven clock, then he will need a PhD in astrophysics to set the time on a pinball machine.
Hopefully not wearing out my welcome here, but I've been on a meme craze lately and thought I'd share some of the ones I like best with my Pinside friends.

You are doing an AWESOME job!

It's awesome! Art is cool. Piet changed the world with his art, smashed perception and opened doors for other artists and thinkers.
Worth every penny and will probably increase in value massively.

Starting in November 2023 we won't ever have to worry about changing the clocks

Uhm, he painted squares on canvas and put some black lines to visually divide the squares. I literally do this every day in Excel with a few clicks. Artistic, sure. Smashing perception, hardly. I get the hoity-toity modern art world, but this has absolutely zero influence/impact/meaning to 99.999999999% of the world.

Ha! Dude died like 100 years ago and you're still talking about him! Any art that makes you feel anything is good art, even if it just pisses you off!

Hopefully...but the bill hasn't passed the house or been signed into law yet.

He did more than just the geometric art also:

For the most part, I view art like I view classical authors and composers (e.g. Shakespeare & Mozart). Were they gifted geniuses, sure. Did their works have even a fraction of the meaning and brilliance we assign to them today - barely. These were men with jobs who were under great pressure, were accountable to powerful people, and had demanding deadlines. They didn't sit around and ponder the existential deep meaning of life & then tried to convey it through their art. They had ideas, they borrowed from others at times, they put their works down on paper in time to meet a deadline, and they took the check to the bank. Artists are no different. Also, the majority of them probably get screwed by the gallery (similar to record labels getting the lion's share of a performer's income).

And I did a watercolor that took the first place blue ribbon in my Junior High's art festival, but that doesn't mean the painting was any good (a mountain scene with a reflective lake). Funny thing is the winning piece was one of 3 in the show I had done, and my least favorite work (my teacher made me enter it). My favorite piece was a pocket knife pencil sketch I did with human arms and legs as the blades (not sure how I didn't get sent to the school psychologist for that one).

Yes. He "Painted" them by hand. Big difference. He didn't have Adobe Illustrator ,or PhotoShop, or the GIMP, Or Excel, Or even MS Paint. Hell, There weren't even any Electronic computers yet when he painted those. I'd say that was quite a feat.

That's pretty much been going on since the days of Michelangelo.
BTW, you know this is real, right? https://twitter.com/tranyewest/status/1527703198156279809

I never intended to convey that the artist wasn't any good nor that the art wasn't appealing (I actually like this style). Just saying I could acquire a lot more things I would appreciate far greater for $50M. But then again, what's the fun of being in the 0.0000000001% club if you can't blow money on something that only a handful of other people in the world could buy?
We have a very nice modern art museum here in Fort Worth, TX (and other great museums too). It's been several years since I've visited but last time I was there they had one of these red & white square paintings on display. Next to it they had a description mounted which was probably 5 or 6 paragraphs long detailing the meaning of the painting and what the artist intended to convey. A total eye roller and complete load IMO (I may have even said "Oh, brother!" out loud when I read it).

$70M?! Now, that is funny! I literally saw this back in the day being made in either a Little Rascals or Leave It to Beaver (I think) where the teacher had kids practicing drawing rows of looping circles on the chalk board.
Personally, my favorite types of paintings are impressionism and geometric. I'm also a fan of Pollock abstracts, but just because I enjoy the mixture of color and chaos (I don't read anything into his works more than that).
