I actually just did this to one of my rims. Dammit.
It happened to me again . . . last night at about 1:30 a battery was low in one of the several smoke detectors in my house, and the annoying chirping began. I've always wondered why my entire life that smoke detectors have only alerted me of low batteries in the middle of the night. Resolved to find the answer and being an IT guy, this morning I decided to hack into one of the detectors and was alarmed (pun intended) to discover this sub routine of code.

Seriously, as I laid awake for an hour after finally tracking the booger down, this is where my mind went.

should we ever decide to sell our place, and should the buyers end up acting like jerks during the time it takes to close the sale ... my plan it to install smoke detectors in various places behind the barn board siding that is featured in many sections of our old house. given the diverse temp ranges each area typically has, I'm thinking the first one will start chiming about 9-12 months post departure and the last one would start it's swan song close to the 24 month mark
Kidde make CO2/Smoke combo with a 10 year Lithium battery. We use them at the Condominiums we manage. I’ve had one installed for about 5 years with no issues. I don’t know your fire code. Check before you buy. They are a little expensive.

That’s deviously genius! The guy that bought my last house was quite a dick! Wish I knew this back then! Lol

There's nothing worse than having one of those talking smoke / CO detectors suddenly going "*CHIRP* Low battery!" every two minutes at 3 A.M.
