My favorite funny movies, not necessarily in order.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Airplane! (1980)
Caddyshack (1980)
Animal House (1978)
The Jerk (1979)
Ghostbusters (1984)
Raising Arizona (1987)
Blazing Saddles (1974)
High on the list is all the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons from about 1937 to 1964.
Hillbilly Hare with the square dance was pretty funny.
Dumb and dumber, airplane, balls of fury, euro trip, groundhog day, superbad, anchorman, monty python, shaun of the dead, step brothers, wedding crashers
Anything Monty Python for old school.
From the 90's, gotta love Mr. Show with Bob and David.
Modern day, Adult Swim has a bunch: Rick and Morty, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Dream Corp LLC, Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell, and if you want way, WAY out there, Tropical Cop Tales.
Quoted from DanQverymuch:From the 90's, gotta love Mr. Show with Bob and David.
Don't forget the Drew Carey Show.
Quoted from Budman:Andy Griffith Show( b/w Don Knotts seasons) ... no question, no debate.
Seriously? If that's "no question, no debate," I can only conclude you have not watched TV since 1963.
Arrested Development
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The Office
Seinfeld
Chapelle’s Show
Parks and Recreation
Eastbound and Down
South Park
Letterkenny
Party Down
Workaholics
Quoted from Pahuffman:Don't forget the Drew Carey Show.
Never understood the accolades. Always found Mimi about as funny as Rosanne (i.e. not).
My old man liked Ray Romano's show, gotta give that a go someday. I mean, I don't dislike understated or dry humor (big Bob Newhart fan) but funniest? I think it requires some absurdity. I get enough plain situational humor in my own life.
Quoted from drsfmd:I shouldn't have to scroll down this far without seeing a mention of Chappelle's Show.
The black white supremacist is one of the greatest skits in history of comedy
Quoted from DanQverymuch:Never understood the accolades.
I remember it being really funny as a kid and rewatched the first four seasons a couple of years ago. Comedy is subjective of course, but I found it to be hilarious at times.
Quoted from fireball2:Letterkenny by a mile
Never saw any of this, one episode in and cant wait to binge! Dialogue is so rapid fire I need to use closed caption
Shows I loved but rarely make threads like this:
Scrubs
Reno 911!
My Name is Earl
Old School:
Monte Python
George carlin
Used to love the Dean Martin Roasts
Airplane was great
Blazing Saddles was greater
Original SNL
Newer:
Jim Brewer
Mitch Headberg (RIP)
Ralphie may (RIP)
Title says “Funniest Show You’ve Ever Seen”- people are putting down movies, entire series, multiple answers... OP gets edited to nothing- now that’s funnier then a lot of these wrong answers.
Correct answer- Young Ones “University Challenge”
You’re welcome. Thread saved.
Quoted from o-din:Only one episode of many.[quoted image]
"The Two Finger Rule" episode of Two and a Half Men is one of the best episodes of any comedy I've ever watched.
Good one for sure!
I've seen a lot of funny shit, I thrive on it. But for me, no show in recent history or any history has come up with so much funny stuff as Two and a Half Men.
I thought How I Met Your Mother was dull before I got into it. It was just the show that was on on Monday nights before the good stuff came on later (Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory were after that if I remember right). They have a lot of jokes that are callbacks to things that happened sometimes several seasons prior. After going back and watching all the seasons, it became one of my favorite re-watchable comedies.
Others not mentioned much:
Workaholics
New Girl
Trailer Park Boys
Dads (only had one short season, but I find it hilarious)
Father Ted
Lucky Louie
Outsourced
Vicar of Dibley
IT Crowd
Films:
Kentucky Fried Movie
High Anxiety
Tromeo and Juliet
Series:
Benny Hill Show
Bizarre (John Byner)
South Park "Christian Rock Hard" episode
Scrubs episode (title escapes me) with guest star Colin Hay from Men at Work
Family Guy episodes featuring the chicken fights.
Honorable mention:
Rick Wakeman's acceptance speech at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Sergeant Bilko (Phil Silvers)
Sid Cesar's 'Your show of Shows'
Get Smart (Mel Brooks & Buck Henry)
Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle
