Right now, that would be Boob, because Flank got himself frozen because he didn't know when to drop something. Did Flank get baited? Sure, but who cares, he went to far and now is paying the price of that. Flanks got pretty thick skin and I'm sure he will be fine after his little vacation.

Thanks, Dave. (Sentence retracted for general stupidity reasons.) Not really sure why I take shit about this, though. But whatever...we've already spent enough time on this.
Just for clarification: This really isn't a this-vs.-that thread. I'm not asking which game is better (if kporter had taken the time to actually READ), nor have I started another Tron fan page to compete with Flank. I was asking about the similarity of the layouts and whether it's a noticeable thing when you're playing. I'll change the title before anybody else gets their panties in a bunch.
There are some people who are WAY too sensitive in this forum.
PS - I owe you a beer next week. Be sure to wear your Hawaiian shirt.

Just my personal opinion (no reflection on Robin's view at all) but I do believe this is not a correct statement you made above. Take Pinsiders like vid or Lloyd for example, their footprints are all over this site and their contributions are far bigger than most.
This doesn't devalue anyone by any means, but some people have impacted the site far more than others over the years, and that's okay that is the nature of things.

My point was just that everybody does something to make Pinside what it is. Even Kaneda was good for entertainment. He might not have had any advice to help people with technical problems, but he was amusing from time to time, as polarizing as he was.

Nah...the title was misleading. That was the one thing I got out of the post. Sometimes even trolls can make a valid point.
And FH is awesome - especially the modded one you had. Classic stuff!

I love doing the same thing with paint. While I am quite impressed when people who know what they are doing with Photoshop make realistic pictures. The "cheese" factor is very funny.

FH: left ramp dumps into either left inlane or the extra shooterlane
TRON: left ramp dumps to right inlane
FH: has a scoop to the right of left ramp
TRON: has a spinner
Tron lacks a talking head, but Tron adds a spinning disc behind a bank of dropdown standup targets
I don't believe Tron has the hidden gangway in the middle of the orbit shot

This ^^ Tron's playfield is a near replica of Congo.
Funhouse is similar but doesn't feel the same to me. I've always thought FH felt clunky to shoot, in fact I'm not fond of any of these layouts.

Some of these are huge differences. Gem shot is a dead end on funhouse. There's no right ramp exit on funhouse destroying any combo flow. This is a huge difference. The whole gate and awesome spinner is completely different than a scoop. The quora feed is non existent on funhouse and becomes the middle shot instead. I don't consider these clones of each other at all.

The point is the shot maps, not the little nitpicky things. Think of the main shots on tron and then congo. Left side has orbit, ramp, path that lead to left orbit to an Left upper flipper that has 2 shots (this is the same if you imagine X-men and just flip left to right). The hole in Congo on the right is the same place as the scoop.
Again...they do diff'rent things and go dif'rent ways, so nothing will ever be exactly the same.

Okay...I'm not familiar enough with Tron to know that the inner left path leads to the orbit (haven't received the game yet). But the crossovers on Congo and the volcano shot through the pops seems completely different. Again...that's why I was requesting a side by side if anybody had one handy.
So that's what that's aboot.

Both right sides have a "lawlor shot," or shot through the pops. Again the maps are the same, but in Congo it goes to a ramp and Tron just goes to the orbit.

There are quite a few tangible differences in the games, but shot geometry is not one of them. That's not to take anything away from either game, they do feel unique, but they are a lot closer than most people realize.
