My next order of business is a quick coat of sealer to the underside of the new PF.It helps with the fingerprints.I will continue to post my progress as I acquire time to continue.
Quoted from shock_me:that's the nicest rotisserie I've seen yet. Good luck with the resto. Funhouse is a great pin!
I posted a material list in an old thread if you wish to make one
Quoted from Methos:Nice rotisserie.
The cabinet does not look bad enough to throw decals on there - is it really in that bad of shape?
It is quite faded and filthy
Quoted from The_Director:The old p/f looks salvageable too. The new one is definitely nicer and shinier, but I've definitely seen them worse than the old one there. Sure someone would pay a good second hand price for it.
I will keep that in mind
Quoted from iepinball:A heads up for you Skypilot: I had a problem with the Mirco Funhouse field I used being 1/8" longer in the front than the original field. The playfield hanger brackets wouldn't fit onto the new field. I ended up cutting 1/8" notches where the brackets go to get them to fit. From your Mirco field photo it looks like all of them are like this.
Thanks for the heads up I'll check it out

I see what you mean
Quoted from Pinchroma:Keith,
I can think of some amazing colors for that machine
Alex,My original intention was to get it back to original.....But after the success we had with my JM I might be tempted.
Quoted from shock_me:I'm watching this closely as well. How do you like the quality of the repro playfield? Who made it? Mirco?
Thanks.
The playfield looks awesome, colors are stunning.as far as the finish there are several minor dust bumps in the finish. As explained to me by a close friend who clears fields covertly for a few people,
"These are mass produced,If you wish it perfect the cost would go up significantly.Do you think the originals looked anywhere as good when they we first built".
And I've been good with it ever since
Thr Playfield was the display at Planetary, according to Planetary
Quoted from johnwartjr:Did you use any additive in your tumbler? The parts look clean, but don't seem to be shiny yet.
No additive,Does it make that big a difference? I used coarse walnut shells instead of fine this time.
Quoted from Pafasa:love the rotisserie! searching for your materials list ...

Quoted from Pinchroma:How's JM looking? have any pics?
Quoted from Dewey68:So if you put the brackets back on as is the bottom of the playfield will hit the locking bar assembly? I'm trying to picture your fix. I don't have a sliding miter saw or a table saw.
not sure if it would have hit but the PF was 1/8 longer so I corrected it
Quoted from Pafasa:Pretty ballsy to cut 1/8 inch off the playfield especially since it is made of plywood. How did you keep it from splintering and tearing up at the edge?
Sharp ,Quality crosscut blade on an accurate saw. Oh yah and sober
Seriously by drawing the blade into the work at 0 degrees you are not pushing the lamination down.If you are unsure you can lay a strip of masking tape on the underside of the PF that will greatly reduce splintering.
Quoted from PeteM:I meant no offense
Not offended at all .I appreciate all feedback. Ive learned a bucket-load from Pinside threads like Dranos WH2O. Still don't know jack compared to most, but figured this thread would help 2fold.
Quoted from CASTHOF:Just finished my decals, waiting on planetary to get more Playfields in stock. (Sorry for hijacking sky)
Can't wait to be on the steps your on!
Did you sand .prime &paint? It looks great
Spent the last few day tweaking ,troubleshooting and playing. Spent Friday night with a great bunch of great guys playing at the Buckeye Pinball league (amazing collection Bill) Finally figured out an issue that was stumping me on my NGG (thanks Andy,Steve ) once that was done I fabricated a cover for my JM left ramp ( Thanks for the photo PeteM ) then dialed it in and haven't stopped playing since. Promise I'll get back to work on FH this week.
I have to admit ,I stressed over the screws holding the switch cover. I replaced it the way I found it.Does anyone have a different screw, nut, bolt. Iwould like to get as close to original as possible.
The press is from harbor freight . I will have to find the link for the conversion parts and rivets.
I had to stop there .I realized that when I was cleaning parts ,I accidentlly washed the two nylon inserts down the drain.
Quoted from nitrojcrawf:If it is the 20-8790 and you have nothing else to order I have a set if interested. Since your right down the road. Then you could see my finished Funhouse too. LMK
Thats them,Ill PM you .
Always interested in meeting another pinhead
Thanks to Nitrojcrawlf I was able to order a few missing posts.I also went over the coil labels with Rick at Planetary. The manual and the actual do not match and Rick was on it trying to correct the issue.Kudos to Planetary!
So I've jumped ahead and decided to finish the 2nd Ramp.
Quoted from Pafasa:Lookin good! Did you fish the parts out of the p trap or buy new?
I spent way to many years as a builder/re-modeler in those traps....ordered new.I actually needed other parts so I went big time and spent the extra 82 cents
So I tore into the cabinet last night .I took additional photos of the back box then removed the clips and plate only to realize there was no memory card in the camera.
I also realized i need to replace the bottom speaker. I really wanted to keep this machine close to the original but now I'm thinking of doing the armor in chrome.
Thoughts on chrome?
Any suggestions on speaker?
Quoted from nitrojcrawf:You could always powder coat.....
I don't want to stray to far from original .dont get me wrong I don't dislike powder.
But my choices are stainless or chrome.
Quoted from dkpinball:It'll almost be a shame to play it.
Almost .....but not quite.
If you go back a few photos to "play field is complete" you can see the other balloon. There are two that look similar.
Mirco,
Thanks for the compliment .
I am sorry, I guess I didn't think to contact you on this . I will definitely do so in the future if any thing ever comes up. Kudos on the beautiful work you do
Best Regards, Keith
Quoted from nitrojcrawf:Keith, How is your project going? Or our you to busy playing with your new purchases?
Cabinet sanded and primed and waiting the paint booth.
I did have to squeeze in shopping 2 FT in between.
Still waitin to get the cabinet in the spray booth. Primed it at home, wife not to happy with the smell,me bad. Hopefully this week
They both took about the same time. The heat gun was less mess/dust. I would use the heat gun (ventilated area). If this method starts gouging the cabinet then I would switch to the belt sander.
I know its hard to see but when I zoomed in on the start button I found out its offset the same.Oh well no ones perfect.
I was nervous as hell doing it. Had it not come out good I would have sanded it out and had my painter shoot it with auto paint.
Quoted from CapnARRR:Can't wait to see the finished product!
At this point ,me too!
I originally started this project just because I like restoration projects. I honestly have not decided what I'm doing with the Pin when its complete. I have discussed the sale to a friend but really not sure of its value. This has yet to be determined.
Quoted from dmacy:Excellent job! It really looks amazing.
So would you say you're relatively happy with the Mirco PF even though you had some cutting to do to make it work?
Needed just those few adjustments. The colors and all are great. So yes I was very happy with it.
