Started restoring my funhouse about a year ago. Finally this winter I am really hitting it hard and finishing it up. It’s coming together nicely. First time I’ve restored a cabinet, I am pleased with the results.

#2 3 years ago

I just went through all my pictures and unfortunately don’t have a good before picture.

Mounted the new playfield to the rotisserie. I always give it a nice waxing before I start

I enjoyed the cabinet work more than I thought I would. I am pleased with the results.

Now I am back on to the playfield. Working on re-attaching the wire harness. All that will be left is the ramps and wire forms. Then drop it back into the cabinet.

Looking forward to seeing your finished product. Funhouse was my very first pin and very first restoration. A very deserving pin! Good luck...

Does anyone know which shooter rod spring goes on the right and on the left? I think they are different right?

They are both 10-148-1.

I got the top side almost done. Rebuilt both ramps and installed today. A few things to wrap up tomorrow and into the cabinet it goes! Might be firing it up and testing it Sunday if all goes well. Exciting

Question about J135. It has a single wire on the connector, mine came off the connector. Which pin does that wire belong to?

Interesting and thanks! Mine is wired differently for some reason. Guess I need to dig into that and figure out why

#14 3 years ago

You should take that post rubber off the left side near the steps ramp plunger. No rubber from the factory there. The ball will end up hitting it.

Does anyone know what J136 does? That seems to be where my red/white wire came from. Someone had moved the connector on J135 to J134 and then installed the red/white wire on J135, but I am not sure which pin. And IDK why they would have done that. Seems like it belong on J136 according to the picture above.

Also as I understand it J133 J134 and J135 are all interchangeable.

#17 3 years ago

I fired it up today. Naturally some switches and bulbs needed tweaking, but it’s working well. I am still stumped with my loose red/white J136 wire. IDK what it does because everything seems to work.

Are you using a led strip in the back of the playfield? Looks nice and bright back there.

Quoted from mollyspub:

Nope, just the standard GI lighting. I like to use cool white LED’s for brightness. I know some would argue I should use warm white, but I like the modern bright look of cool white. I agree it’s really well lit compared to the original incendescents.

Thanks! Yeah it’s gorgeous. The old playfield was a mess, this nice fresh one is so beautiful. I could just stand there and stare at it for hours

J136 goes to the lamp in your start button. My J136 only has one wire on pin 3 (yellow/gray) which was off when i got my game and had to figure out where that went. The red wire bundled with that wire goes to a connector by itself on pin 9 of J135. I swapped both to molex as seen in the pic (after i pulled the red one out of the slot by mistake when i pulled my driver board). If i disconnect either and i lose my start button light. The manual assumes J133 is the one that is used but i’m hooked up to J134. As you say, same difference.

I cant find any reference to the second wire on J136 in the manual. What’s interesting to me is in the pic that drummermike posted. Notice there is an IDC connector on J133 with no wires. Odd since normally unused headers don’t have a bare connector installed on them. His red wire (i think its the same one we are talking about) is on J136 pin 2 instead. I wonder if the start button lamp works on his. The fact those yellow and red wires are zip tied together makes it seem like they belong on the same connector... i’m not brave enough to swap my red wire over to test it lol.

My start button lamp does work.

I did a playfield swap a few years ago on my FH. I got the pf from Marco but it has no maker marks on it.
It is the best looking pf I have. Houdini also has a great pf. The clear is amazing.

I took LOTS of pictures then. I had a few things to tweak but it is working 100% now.

#24 3 years ago

Thanks for the help! Weird the start button works in both spots, maybe it's programmed that way and they had changed the wiring during the run? At any rate I had not checked my start button and it is indeed not working. I'll connect that today. Thx!

got the LEDOCD boards installed today

Looks great, those mirrored side blades are sweet! I've been tempted to pick up a pair even though I don't have a Funhouse yet.

They do look great, only problem is they are very snug. So far it’s been ok, I’ve lifted and lowered the playfield a lot getting all the tweaks done. But i feel like its a matter of time till they get marked up. Those protectors pinballlife sells are too thick to slide in and protect them cause they are just so snug.

Those mounting plates look sweet. I opened up my backbox the other day and realized mine are just floating. Totally restored game with some boards just tossed in. Ha! Where did you get them?

LEDOCD, they are an option to add when ordering the boards, I assume they also sell them separately

Can anyone confirm where the backbox light board plugs in? Its ether J120 or J121, they are the same size connector and keyed the same, so I can't figure out which one.....Thx!

I don't think it matters. There are a few places on that board where connectors are doubled.

I went down to the gameroom and realized i never shifted my FH back over properly. So i decided to swap that single red wire over to J136. The start button light remained working but did behave differently. Rather than a steady blink in attract mode it seemed to behave the same way as the controlled lamps, with varying rate of blinking as well as changing in brightness (fading higher and lower). I ended up putting it back to the way it was. Interesting to see though, not sure if that is common or if its a different wire altogether we are each referring to?

When I put it on J136 my white pop bumper light was all goofy. So i just have it disconnected again. Not sure where it belongs......

What is the proper degrees of tilt on the playfield? The rear adjusters are almost all the way out and I am at about 6.3

6.5 degrees is standard. I typically set mine a little steeper, maybe 6.8-7. You can get the front leg levelers a little lower if you remove the nut.
