I don't have anything in those holes on mine, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be anything there.
For the hole behind your 'E' step, check your ramp to see if it lines up with the hole. My ramp has that end broken off so I don't know if a post goes there.
Hopefully someone with a better answer comes along to help out.
