Any tips you might care to pass on as I take on my first playfield swap? Thanks in advance!
I'm a veteran of more than a dozen PF swaps.
Here's how I do it:
Pull PF from machine and put it on rotisserie.
Take photos of top and bottom.
Remove ramps, toys (Rudy head, etc), and plastics. Take more photos to document post locations, etc.
Strip the rest of the stuff from the top side. Keep top side hardware separate from bottom side hardware.
Turn over and remove PCBs and anything that can be unplugged.
The PF has three wiring harnesses, power, controlled lamps, and switches. I remove them one at a time, power first, then lamps, then switches.
Remove all the coils from their mechs, leaving them attached to the power harness.
Cut or de-solder the GI power connections from the power harness to the PF.
Remove the power harness.
Unscrew all the lamp sockets from the PF.
Remove the lamp harness with all the sockets attached.
Unscrew all the switches from the PF.
Remove the switch harness from the PF.
Remove the harness looms and anything else still attached to the PF
Wash, repair, repaint, replace, tumble, polish, and or buff everything.
Reverse the above step on the new PF.
The wiring harnesses will have lots of memory and switches and lamps will fall back into their places fairly easily. If you have doubts, check the wire colors against the manual. Don't worry too much, swapping a switch or two later is no big deal if you get a couple in the wrong locations. Remember, switches go on first, then lamps, then power/coils.
Photos will save you, if you took good ones. Take good ones.
I created a non-game-specific guide with a compilation of everything I've learned from Pinsiders, it may confirm some ideas you are considering...

Put a stop on the drillbit you use for pilot holes. The very last thing you want is holes through your new playfield.
Believe me. Do it.
FH has several long post (supports ramps, etc.) before you remove then get a tape measure and take a picture showing the length and location of each. Be sure to take pictures of all the post (no need for tape for the normal height ones) to show if they take 1 or 2 rings, male, female or no threads.
