Funhouse phantom Rudy hit

Just finished a Funhouse restore and everything is functioning and bug fixed except one oddity. Rudy scores one phantom hit always and for every player. At the end of ball hit count, you get 1 if you hit him or not. The optos are new. Running ROM Version 4 upgrading to 9 soon. I am hoping it's a software glitch that will be fixed with the ROM upgrade.
Anyone ever hear of this? Ideas where to begin the bug hunt.

Are you sure it isn't a switch matrix issue ? Switch wired wrong, diode on backwards, a short to switch lugs or wiring.

Wouldn't that continuously trigger the switch? Not just one credited at each game.

A bit more background. I was initially running the game troubleshooting while waiting for the optos to arrive. Rudy was registering one hit even with the optos disconnected, which is what leads me to think a possible software issue. Maybe the opto control board but why only once?

No, just when something else is hit. Or right combination of switches.

If it was okay before the restore. Go over your work.

You always start with one Rudy hit, this is normal.

Check the complete row and colum for that switch number.
Does it close a whole line when fire that switch?.
my wpc 95 game triger the castle gate when attached a color dmd.
After added a extra powersupply for de color dmd it works fine now.
So can be the 12 volt.
