Funhouse Fuse Goes Boom

Hey Lloyd,

Glad to see you are still involved in pinball and repair advice. I remember you from rec.games.pinball 17 years ago when I got my first pin game!

I have a puzzler with my Funhouse: turned it on one day but the CPU board and displays were dark. Driver and sound boards came on, though. the 5V supply fuse was blown on the driver board. Put in a replacement fuse and it blew within one second of power-up. Seems like a direct short, but where?

I was hoping you might have seen this before and could save me some time in tracking it down.

Thanks,

Rudy

Hi Rudy

I'd check the 5 volt bridge rectifier on the driver board. It is probably shorted. It's BR2. Grab a meter and compare readings between it's legs and other bridge rectifiers nearby. See if you have a dead short between two legs.
