Quoted from pinballinreno:I have a brand new fully clear coated playfield installed that is freshly waxed everywhere.
I have been there and done exactly what you have done.
All of it had some positive results, but it ended up that the ball was actually travelling over the disc plate when the game played very fast.
Pushing disk lock plate up to nearly the end of the shaft (less than 1/16" of the end of the shaft showing) seems to fix it properly.
So, the disc lock is probably too low and needs to be properly oriented. I can see from your picture that yours is much lower than mine.
With the ramps off you can clearly see how the disc has to be oriented. Its not super critical, but has to be set so that the ball bounces a bit to lower its inertia and wont plow through.
I have the plate orientation set so that lower edge of the cutout in the plate is exactly level with the siderail, but no higher.
If the lower edge goes higher than that, or goes past the siderail even the slightest amount, ball will hang there.
If the plate is rotated too much, the ball wont release.
Looking at it, when its set right, the ball deflects downward to the center of the plate and looses its inertia by hitting the center.
A fair amount of testing with a ball gets it "just right".
I took off the ramps and filmed it so that I could see it in slow motion.
Currently I have 2 conical springs on it, removed the 'williams style" side return spring, and have zero failures even at the highest ball speeds.
Too many springs on the nech makes it hard for the solenoid to release the ball effectively.

I added a 2nd disc plate right on top of the first. Drilled 3 holes and used #6 sheet metal screws and ground down. Works great and is only a couple bucks.
Quoted from cosmokramer:Testing Rudy after game restoration, is "eyes left" supposed to turn to Rudys left, or mine?
Your left.
Quoted from pinballinreno:Do you have a link to the marketplace ad?</
Where did you find the "Rudy" topper dummy? Or is it a ventriloquist's dummy?
Facebook. A mile away. It’s Slappy from Goosebumps. It’s pretty nice.
