I am really excited for the upgrade/retheme, and have already put my name on the Planetary Pinball list!

But, I am really interested to know if the new dialogue spoken by Rudy will still actuate his mouth correctly as was originally programmed. I can't see any indication of this in the teaser video. Larry Demar spent hundreds of hours programming the movement of Rudy's jaw to be in snyc with the audio. I really hope this is carried forward to this update, or else you will lose a significant part of the experience.

Funhouse values just shot up substantially.

Quoted from arcademojo:

This kit couldn't have come at a better time. Now it's going to be my first total restore. Gonna need new cab, decals, playfield, ramps and of course the new kit.

Funny you say that, I feel the same way. I am finishing up a Firepower rebuild and my plan was to then shop out my Funhouse as I've owned it for a few years and have never disassembled it. Looking forward to also get some new decals for mine as the sideart is a bit color faded.

Quoted from AMSNL:

Will be uploading in the next couple of weeks the full Rudy front and back STL files

Wow! Thank you so much for this gift to Funhouse collectors. I'm really excited to try printing one!

Where did you find the "Rudy" topper dummy? Or is it a ventriloquist's dummy?

Quoted from jawjaw:

I'm not big on attract sounds but would be cool if Rudy opened his eyes, looked around, and then closed the eyes every now and then.

That would really be super cool, but I can understand why Williams didn't include any movement from Rudy as part of an attract mode in FH...it would have led to substantial wear if Rudy were moving his eyes, eyelids, or the mouth all day long while the game was being operated.

Still, a musical flourish every few minutes would have been great and would not have needed to involve mechanical movement of Rudy.

Quoted from MC35:

Now that I have my 2.0 kit, I'm actually ready to start restoring my FH.
I need to touch of the blue on the cabinet. Anyone know the right blue paint?

I'm currently repainting my Earthshaker which seems to be the same color as my FH. The color is somewhere between a RAL5022 and RAL5015. I was able to mix it myself after getting cans of both of those colors. The 5022 is too purple and the 5015 was too light. My paint shop here didn't have a color swatch with anything in-between. You can see the color mixing at 1:05 of my my resto video here:

Shopping out my FH and found this plastic piece behind the trapdoor (above the green lane) that appears to be cracked. Does anyone know the part number for this or know where it can be sourced? Can't find it in the manual. Is it even supposed to be here?

Or is it something I should just make from some thin acrylic?

*EDIT* I found it. Marcos #03-8502. Out of stock...so maybe I have to make it.

Even after swapping brass sleeves on Rudy's spring bar, his eyes still wouldnt return back to center very well. One direction was okay, but the other side was a bit lazy. So using a light spring 1" long, a longer 6-32 screw and a locknut, I was able to hook the spring on the right side of the spring bar and over the longer screw which results in a small amount of forward tension on the spring bar into the centering crank. This creates just enough force to SNAP the eyes back to absolute center each time and from either direction. I tried using one spring on each side, but found that only one is really necessary (and the small coils are in the way on his left side anyway. Maybe it helps others out.

Quoted from pinheadpierre:

I’m not picturing how this works in my head. Does anybody have a picture or illustration they can share to does how this piece fits in? I recently rebuilt Rudy and he works great, but I’m still curious.

I'm also not clear on how/where this black piece mounts. I found this photo of Ted online and perhaps it's what I've circled in the photo? If so, I understand how it would put more centering force on the mechanism. That should be an easy part to sketch up & 3d print if I could see a clear photo of one. I really don't want to mail order a $2 part!

Quoted from killerrobots:

Does this help? I have other disassembly pictures.
[quoted image]

Yes it helps a lot. So the black piece looks to be made of spring steel and is smaller and thinner than I was thinking it was. I guess I'll just order it

Quoted from bsbdmd83:

Ordered the springs and bump stop. The springs are conical and since we are using two do they simply nest inside each other or do the go 1 forward and 1 backward to have the large ends but to each other?

They nest inside each other.

My first re-decal job and it's going smoothly. The blue color on the PinballDecals.eu Funhouse decals is definitely a bit too purple. That's a bit disappointing but I wasn't about to try to return them to Croatia. The quality is good, shrinks and adheres nicely with a heat gun. I'll do the head tomorrow, then decide if I'll repaint the head to match the "blue" color of the graphic.

Edit: these decals were completely the wrong color and looked terrible when I got finished! They have been removed, returned, and I ordered a set from Phoenix Arcade.

Quoted from CLEllison:

Looking at the picture on their website VS what it actually is ... wow. It's stuff like this that makes a "purist" go insane.

Quoted from nerdygrrl:

Phoenix Arcade makes A+++ silk screened decals for Funhouse. Their work is next level.

Quoted from Zee:

Indeed, on my machine I have a set of their Funhouse vinyl cabinet art from 20 years ago still going strong and looking perfect.

Well, I filed a dispute with Pinballdecals.eu on Paypal because the product they delivered was not the same color as what their website indicates. I pulled the decals back off of the machine, sent them back and I was finally granted a refund today (minus some €€ for shipping I told him to keep).

I got lucky since I didn't really see the color disparity until the job was done and all graphics were installed, and normally I wouldn't expect a refund for a product I already installed. He was upset at first, but then calmed down and offered to let me return them anyway.

So....I ordered a screen-printed set from Pheonix Arcade 1 week ago based on all of the great recommendations from you guys. I'll definitely stick with them in the future.

I used the pinballdecal.eu on my resto and they looked great. I could see no difference between them and originals

Yeah, your set looks fine. Somehow I ended up with a purple set. I guess digital printing can result in such things. I for sure didn't want the world's only purple Funhouse.

Quoted from desertT1:

I have an issue right now with my FH. There are phantom drains happening right after plunging in some instances, and in most cases it will kick out 2 balls into the shooter lane. I was poking around and the highlighted switches are not working. The circled ones are confirmed working and I'm not sure what the wind tunnel hole switch is to check that one.
I'm looking for broken wires, and since the whole row isn't failing I don't think it's more than a wiring issue. I just wanted to see if anyone else sees something I might be overlooking. So far I don't see any broken wires, but if that is the issue hopefully I find that instead of it being a failed conductor being hidden by the wire insulator.
EDIT: If the wind tunnel hole switch is in the subway, then that one doesn't work either.
[quoted image]

Since it seems that maybe the whole row is out, I'd start at the connector for the White-Yellow switch wire where it comes off the MPU. Make sure your connector (IDC?) is in good shape. Could be the wire coming out of the IDC connector housing. Cracked solder joint? Wiggle the wire or connector and see if it changes anything. If not, disconnect the connector off the MPU and ohm the white-yellow wire at the connector -> to the bottom Superdog Target. It seems that this might be the first point of failure. The switches are daisy-chained from there so you can ohm to the next, and the next, and so-on.

Quoted from harig:

You don't have to remove the steps ramp to replace the capture disc.
Unscrew the capture mechanism on the underside of playfield and remove the whole mechanism by turning it-the disc fits thru its hole in the playfield

Really!? I didnt know this. I've been fighting with the ramps whenever I need to make even a minor adjustment to the lock. I going to buy a replacement disc assembly and I'll definitely try to remove it that way

Following up from a previous post I made a few weeks ago...today I recieved a surprise in the mail from the owner of PinballDecals.eu.

They evidently had an technical issue with their printer which had caused my original set of Funhouse decals to be printed more purple than blue. They had accepted a return on these...but the owner went one step further and sent me another set with the blue shade corrected. He also included some artblades in compensation for the whole ordeal. I was blown away by the generosity of this gesture and he is a stand-up guy for wanting to do right with his customers. I'm not used to such great customer service.

So I feel quite bad now about the initial bad feedback I gave about the decals. The adhesive, foil backing, and clarity of the original set was great...my only issue was with the color originally...and they have surely corrected this for Funhouse. So I can say if you need some decals here in Europe, I could recommend Pinballdecals.eu. Their artblades appear to have a durable protective coating, which should be good to prevent scratches as the PF is lifted.

Currently Decommissioning my Funhouse 2.0 and going back to original Funhouse.
My nostalgia resonates with Original game.

I was intrigued by the Pedretti Gaming Funhouse 2.0 kit when I first saw it (before I saw the price), but as time has went on...I'm glad I didn't buy it. I agree with you - I have nostalgia for the OG. The Rudy's Nightmare kit is like putting a hat on the Mona Lisa.

I've played around with using AI to replicate Ed Boones voice. It's not too shabby! I changed, "Hey! Stop running around!" to "Stop running around you asshole!" And it really sounds good/accurate. But there's two problems. (At least with the program I was using)

What AI app are you using to replicate the speech? That sounds very cool!
