Quoted from Zennmaster:For those who thought my Rudy Legs mod was creepy before:
The adhesive gave out, and this is what is under my game right now...[quoted image]
If you find the legs suddenly In a different location throughout the house then I’m out of here!
Quoted from topkat:For those who have taken the playfield down, if I am just trying to do a good clean do you think it’s best to unsolder most of the switches or can you still move things out of the way to clean?
If it’s just cleaning, I wouldn’t unsolder anything unless I had to. You can get to most everything by just moving things around.
I’m frustrated. I can’t for the life of me figure out why Rudy’s jaw will not move. I have tested the motor, checked the gears, checked for shorts in the wires, fuse f116, j126, and checked the high power driver board. The driver board does have a transistor that tests like it’s shorted at Q5, but when I replaced it with a different tip107 it reads the same. I’m thinking this is where the problem lies but am very limited in my knowledge to know better. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Quoted from Elicash:I had an issue with Rudy’s jaw and it turned out it was the motor itself. Motor would work fine in test mode but under stress of game play it worked intermittently. Is this similar to your issue? Or does it not work at all? I messed around with driver board, gear crank, everything, but once I replaced motor I was good.
Fixed it. Had to replace the high current driver board. I thought I checked everything on it but couldn’t find anything wrong. Someone had worked on the board previously so who knows what could have been done to it. I also ordered the motor too, not knowing for sure if it was behaving like elicash’s. The motor wires were soldered incorrectly too, since everything was backwards so it seems like the mouth was a problem for a while.
I will be doing a complete restoration in a few weeks so right now I’m calling it “Fugly Funhouse” until I can get the time and funds to get started. If anyone has any input or restoration tips specific to this pin I would greatly appreciate it.
Does Funhouse utilize the real time clock in the game? I have a battery holder that is giving me troubles and am thinking of putting a NVRam in it. I know some games like TZ and DH use the clock in game but I have never noticed anything with FH. There isn’t any secret midnight madness or anything like that?
Some before and after pics of the backbox restore over the weekend. Still needs a new translight but otherwise it’s good to go.

Went to check their online stores but no luck unfortunately.
Let me know if you find one, I’ve been looking too.
Does anyone know where I can find the pop bumper funhouse decals? I have new covers, just need the decals to go on top.
Quoted from tlukka:Had to do some restoration on my Rudy head requiring repainting. Decided to try something different. Opinions?[quoted image][quoted image]
Always thought this looked amazing. Not mine.
A0DCACFE-7674-4EE6-9AA6-16F0C7C35EC4 (resized).jpegQuoted from Nihonmasa:And that will be I hope my last question...
The opto for the rear ramp was not working, so I changed it => same thing.
Unplugged from the board on the rear of the playfield => registering the opto (in test mode) but still nothing when doing by hand.
Went on with a few tests, and now the Jaw opto, which was working, is not working anymore...
Issue with the opto board?
Most likely, as I had the very same thing happen to me. I checked and double checked everything and couldn’t find anything wrong. Even the light beam would show up on my phone camera but would not register In test. Replaced the board and all is well.
Quoted from desertT1:I am having some balls blow right past the mech on the lock shot from time to time. I don’t know what I might be missing but is this a common issue with a known solution?
I might need one at some point but don’t know if that’s enough.
Mine does the same thing from time to time, especially with a fast shot into the lock area. Haven’t been able to fix it and there is very little wear on the cam. Adjusted a million different ways and still does it occasionally.
Here is Professor Pinballs Funhouse Pinduino ramp lighting kit with Rudy light mod. I think it came out fantastic! Thanks Eric.
Quoted from ShaneyMac:So my machine came with LEDs installed. How can I tell if a GI OCD or LED OCD was installed? Also, what do they do in general (and I guess specifically what’s the effect for funhouse?).
I do not have it installed in my funhouse but I do in my DH and it removes all the flickering of the general illumination when there is a dimming feature in the game. For instance, when Rudy goes to sleep, the gi dims for a dark effect. If you do not have an GI-OCD board the gi will dim but will also flicker and strobe. The GI-OCD board would remove the flicker and strobing and make all the gi look more like original incandescent lights.
Quoted from Bulldozer:Hello all,
Very close to buying a Funhouse machine.
Rudy is a bit beat up and tired though, is it still possible to buy new facial parts for him?
Thanks!
Rudy heads are impossible to find. Only thing I have been able to get is eyelids and internal parts. No head or jaw.
Quoted from Elicash:there are three switches that the ball rolls over in the lock mechanism. These switches can be very temperamental. If the game has balls locked but the switches dont actuate when ball rolls over Rudy will wake up and the the lock kicks out all the balls.
FYI - for all you folks about to do playfield swaps/restores, this was one of the most frustrating issues to address with the new playfields. I just had to really futz and adjust those 3 switches a ton before I got these to work perfect.
Good point with the restore. I always use a ball to test the switches and not my finger. If your hearing is good you can hear the “click” of the switch as the ball goes over it.
Quoted from Randyg:I just acquired a funhouse last weekend. Needs a lot of love!! It has some issues, at turn on it “bongs” 6 times, then when you press the start button it bongs another 5.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
The "bongs" mean the computer system has detected an issue with the machine. it is also known as a credit dot as it informs an operator that there is something wrong with the pin. It shows up with a period after the credits on the display. It should tell you where to start looking when you press the enter button behind the coin door.
I'm sure you already know this but your post was somewhat vague as to its meaning.
Quoted from yzfguy:Please leave those in when you deliver the game to me.
Do I get to pick one from your lineup?
Quoted from jdoz2:Joined the club yesterday!
It seems like it’s going to clean up really well. I noticed that these pop number caps have the funhouse logo on them. Is that how they came from the factory?[quoted image][quoted image]
Speaking of Fun house pop decals, does anyone know where I can find just the stickers for them?
Quoted from desertT1:If I have 2 balls locked a hard shot to the lock is sometimes coming back out. The gate doesn’t look damaged but wondering if there is anything else that might be causing an issue.
I have had balls scoot by the diverter but never back out the way it came. That is odd. Is the wire gate a factory one? I know sometimes people make them out of music wire (me too) and they tend to be a lot bouncier. The one I made for BOP sometimes allows the ball back down the shooter lane.
Quoted from chriz99:Check out my Rudy Airbrush Zombie/Joker Mod with red LED-flasher-strip inside
cheers
Chris
Way to take an already creepy Rudy and dial it up to 11!
Love it!
Quoted from dsuperbee:take the subway out and give it a good cleaning. There may be some crud in there big enough to block.a ball.
It could also be a misadjusted switch that the end has popped up into the ramp.
Yes, probably dirty or worn ball trough. Or your balls could be magnetized too. Put some new balls in there.
Quoted from yzfguy:Nope. I had this game for years and never noticed this fact until my son pointed it out. Now it drives me crazy!
Well it does register a "hit" in the Frenzy modes I believe.
Quoted from branlon8:Thanks - that confirms it I guess. It has often intrigued me how some older games „waste“ potential shot angles. It seems very uncommon in newer games.
I never really noticed that the scoop has really no purpose, until now.
Someone should do a Funhouse 2.0 like DP did with Bride of Pinbot.
Quoted from mjenison:Of course! Short video of it in action:
It looks awesome but can it be any bigger?
