Quoted from dmacy:

What is everyone using for the sling rubber sizes? 2" is the manual and they do fit but they are tight! 2 1/2" seems fine and the originals look to be 2 1/2" but they're old enough that I can't tell for certain.

If using Titan rubbers, most people have shifted to the 2 1/2" rings for the slings.

the titan rubber kits list shows that this is what people are doing.

Thank you; I missed that on the site.

I thought I took enuff photos, but I can’t tell for the main ramp, does the left side near the entrance attach to a post?
I know the right does. Esp with cliffy but it looks
Like the left just sits?

No post for the left, however, there is an unused post that screws into the playfield that is unused.

Right side has no post either at the entry unless using a Cliffy for the ramp, then one needs to be added i believe

Its missing on my game but i believe a white spool with #8 post screw with 8-32 threaded end on tbe right.

These are often missing.

You can see the stripped out hole in the PF.

No post on the left.

#1911 3 years ago

I wonder if i can attach that to the cliffy and ramp or if I need to drill another.
Instructions say need another one

#1913 3 years ago

On mine I replaced the post with the hex one from cliffy, I did not install a second one.

It looks like you have the white spool in that location.

What post or screw did you use?
Does it go under the cliffy?
And no longer thru the ramp?

#1916 3 years ago
Quoted from topkat:

Correct, I was able to use the initial hole in the PF. I had to go back and look at my pics, lol, its been a while.

So just behind the "E" target is the unused hole (mine had nothing there when i tore it down), thats where the cliffy hex post goes. That is what will screw into the right side hole on the ramp (through the front hole on the cliffy).

For the back hole, my repro ramp already had a hole there (with a zip tie through routing the entrance switch wires). If i recall, i had to open it up a little with my dremel to match the back hole on the cliffy. I opted to secure it with another zip tie (also holding the switch wires) instead of putting a screw through it. It has caused me now issues so far.

Sorry, I took tons of pics tearing this thing down but so few putting it back together, heh. Its just a small hex post that comes with the cliffy. It goes under the ramp in the existing hole right behind the "E" target. The entrance switch bracket will screw threw the existing hole on the right side entrance (where it was secured with a nut before) and in to the hex post that your adding.

#1919 3 years ago

I replaced the original right side with the hex post. The left side has no ramp post. I do not know why that left post is behind the light.

What you are doing is right. Arcadenerd925's first picture is correct. One post on the right only.

I've added a few pics from my swap and the one I did for my buddy too showing the area. Both had or at least got the added Cliffy hex post during the swap. Not sure if it helps or not, but 3 machines look to all be the same from the ones I've torn apart. I'm guess that left metal post was intended as support for the ramp but not really needed.

Good photos. So am I correct that hex post is drilled into the recessed area where the pad is?

I don't have my cliffy set yet, its coming.

But im under the impresdion that the hex post gors into the unused hole in the white area behind the "E" target in tbe photo.

So, you have it correctly placed.

I have typical operator adjustments (not listed in any manual...)

Just sorting out the missing parts and extra holes lol.

I talked to cliff about the legendary lamp shade support he made up years ago.

It would be awesome if he, or someone else made up some more.

He cant find the template he made for it yet, amongst the thousands of templates he has!

I bought one only 20 years ago...

Hi Folks. We bought our FH in December and it's in great shape, but one occasional problem I'm trying to get help with. When you've reached 11:30 and the lock is lit, a hard shot up the alley will sometimes go right through and not register or lock the ball (also won't give you extra ball if that's lit). I've run switch tests on the 3 switches and they seem to be working properly (close when the ball goes over them) and the solenoid test for ball release also seems fine. Could it be that the spring is weak and needs replaced? Or should the lock mechanism (the disc with the half-moon cut out) be adjusted so that it closes off more of the lane?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Are you saying the ball gets through without stopping?

I was looking at the hole in the pad I circled. I guess there have been slight variations to how it’s done

arcadenerd925 - That's correct, it doesn't stop. It's hard to tell if it's been slowed down at all but I think it is. I notice that if the ball goes up slowly it does get captured.

You can try to adjust the locking mechanism or you may need a new one. Over time these things take a beating . There was a recent pic of this posted somewhere in here .Make sure you get one that's already assembled.

Quoted from fundy_pinhead1:

Ciao gente.
Qualsiasi consiglio sarebbe apprezzato.
Tom

We in Italy have solved this common problem as follows: you have to insert a piece of insulating tape bent at T in the point where I have indicated, this slows down the ball and will no longer give you the problem, on my pinball it has no longer made the defect, let me know if it also works on yours!

You cant out a post rhere. Its in the ramp.

I think its the unused hole in the white area behind the e target.

#1933 3 years ago

The two holes in the recessed area are for the two small screws that hold the bottom of the ramp.

Use the front hole on the right for the hex post.

As drummermike said, no post there. The existing hole behind the e target will do the trick.

But since I was thinking of the steps ramp cliffy. Here is mine installed. I did not add any posts (didnt feel it was needed)

It may mean that the disc assembly for the ball lock mechanism needs to be replaced, I posted some details on this a few months back:

Thanks! I figured someone might have addressed this but was trying to avoid going back through 39 pages of posts to find it. I can't believe the amount of wear it incurred compared to the new one.

I tried ordering a new one from Marco because it said it was in stock. After they processed my order, I got credited for it so they obviously were out of stock. Any other idea where I could find a new one?

I saw it was out of stock a few weeks ago and then last week I looked and it was in stock so I ordered one and the other parts I needed. Check every few days as they will get more. Is there a way to get a notification when it comes back in stock?

#1943 3 years ago

This is a very temperamental part to adjust. If it’s too far open it does not stop the ball on a firm shot but if it is too far in the other direction it will not kick the ball out of the lock properly. I would loosen from the bottom and turn it an 1/8th of an inch clockwise. Then make sure you tighten back up.

I did a full restore and this mech was probably the most maddening to get right. But I found an older worn part was easier to adjust correctly than a brand new one. So definitely play around with adjusting before totally replacing it.

#1944 3 years ago

planetary pinball has it in stock...just bought one last week

#1945 3 years ago

While certainly beat up, it should still be able to function. You could loosen the mounting screws on the under side and see if you can shift it up (down, if your looking at it from underneath) perhaps loosen the shaft and turn it clock wise a smidge to see if getting that top edge a little higher will stop balls from sailing by.

Might take some trail and error but I bet you can get that sucker working.
