Hi.
I've owned the Nightmare set since December and I'm generally very satisfied.
It's a great expansion that turns the funhouse into a whole new pinball machine.
Excellent!
Great work! But there are still a few issues.
I currently have the 99_2 software on it. I noticed the following, which is clearly visible on the two videos in the thread:
Video 1: The pinball machine is running in classic mode, Rudy's eyes are in top form
Video 2: The pinball machine runs in nightmare mode, Rudy's eyeballs only twitch briefly.
That's a pity.
It's not relevant to the game, but it's a lot more fun when Rudy's eyes follow the course of the ball. Maybe you can get the problem under control, I would be very happy!

I think maybe there is something wrong with the FAST board settings for the solenoids @fastpinball?

#2244 1 year ago

I also had this problem. I just also reinstalled the SD card and started the installation with both new again.
Everything worked fine.

Quoted from Dewey68:

This game deserves an autolauncher! Having to plunge balls during multiball modes doesn't allow you to really concentrate on the mode. It seems like half the time I'm reaching over to plunge another ball I lose one in play and end up having to plunge another one. The modes are still fun, but an autolauncher would really take the game to the next level IMO.

I absolutely agree with you.
Nice when the sound problems from Funhouse 1 are worked on and also nice that there is a topper.
But top priority should definitely be an auto plunger!!!!

Hello, dear community.
I have a big problem.
Of course it was a classic stupid mistake and I could kick my ass!!!
I just wanted to quickly (with the flipper on) tighten a small (unimportant) screw on Rudy's head and caused a short circuit with the screwdriver.
I think the screwdriver made contact between the screw on Rudy's head and the metal plate on the back of the 2.0 mystik mirror.
(See image)
There was a brief flash near the screwdriver and the sound made an unfortunate noise.
Nothing works now.
I suspect the problem is on the 2.0 CPU. Does anyone have an idea how I can proceed?

ok, thank you very much. It will take a few days for me to check everything.
The fuses are all fine.
Everything seems to be ok on the pdb.

Quoted from metallik:

I wouldn't think that either that mirror back plate, nor Rudy's head bracket, should be 'hot.' Where did the shorted voltage come from? That would be the first thing I'd want to figure out.

It seemed to me that it must have been the metal plate on the mygic mirror.
What else could I have touched with the screwdriver? Maybe a cable at the light barrier on the ramp?

Quoted from chillme:

sounds like you may have damaged the daughter (Raspberry Pi) on the pinsound XL board. From the video it looks like the back box display is not powering up? You would want to hook up a HDMI source to the screens (game system, DVD player, etc. Something with a HDMI output) just to make sure the screens work. If you get video, then you know the screens are good. But it's possible the big screen has a bad power supply, that you can check with a volt meter. The supply will have the voltages it outputs printed on it.
And of course check all your fuses. You can also check the voltages going to the pinsound xl card, just to make sure they are good.
If all that checks out, I would suspect it's the Pi that is blown. I would open a ticket with your distributor or Pedretti.

A signal arrives on the small Pla field-display when I connect an external HDMI source (laptop).
The large display remains black. No reaction.
I think you are right about the back Box display.
A friend of mine is better in electronics than me, he will visit me this week and we will check out the voltages together. I'm affraid I do more harm if I try tjis allone
And sure I will open a ticket to pedretti the next days.

Yes, I'm still confused as to how the short circuit happened. There's no current flowing through the metal plate on the playfield display and the Rudy screw, is there?
Has anyone an Idea?

I can't measure current on the playfield because the pinball isn't turning on at the moment.

Explains the flash when I came into contact with the metal plate of the display.
I don't know where the voltage is coming from.

Display remains black but 12V. arrives.

on the PDB is one led not active (led3). sombody know what that means?

Having voltage in the frame is not good.

definitely not, as I found out

#2385 1 year ago

Thanks for the Info about led3

Quoted from chillme:

I guessed you had voltage on Rudys head, figure that one out before doing anything else.

Yes, thats definitly my Plan.

Quoted from metallik:

I wouldn't think that either that mirror back plate, nor Rudy's head bracket, should be 'hot.' Where did the shorted voltage come from? That would be the first thing I'd want to figure out.

short update:
I fixed the voltage-problem on the metal frame of Rudy's head.
The previous owner or "pre- previous" owner (?) had not reinstalled the isolating cardboard-strip when replacing one of the eyeball coils.

Screenshot_20230319_045405_Gallery (resized).jpgScreenshot_20230319_045405_Gallery (resized).jpg
This error has apparently existed for a long time and only through my mishap has it now been noticed.
Ok, the reason for the electric shock is clarified, this problem is solved.
I installed a new cardboard-strip and measured everything.
There is now no more voltage on the metal frame.

Now "only" the errors on the new components have to be found and corrected.
but I'm getting great Support from pedretti and pinsound so I'm hopefull

Missing the fish paper insulators, as I expected.

correct, as you said!
thanks for the hint!

Dear pinball community,
i need your advice!
I haven't received an answer from Pedretti support for two weeks now.
Pinsound support is not responding either. On April 26th I submitted a support request there via the website, which was also confirmed to be received
("We will offer you the best solution as soon as possible, within 24 to 72 hours.").
Also on my repeated request to confirm the receipt of my support requests
(to the emails I've been in contact with so far with Shawn from Pedretti and Nicolas from Pinside - [email protected] and [email protected]) I get no response.
Anyone have any ideas what's going on there?

I've had some problems with my Funhouse 2.0, but I've had very good support from Pedretti the whole time.
In the end I received a new Pinsound XL card from Pinsound for which I had to pay.

Replacing it didn't solve the problem - the main display was not receiving power.
However, no correct signal was received via the right HDMI port (main display connection) even on an external monitor.
Shawn from Pedretti pointed this out to Nicolas from Pinsound, who said the new card had been tested and should work, so the problem must be with the main display.
I then sent in the main display and it was repaired or I received a replacement.
Now the main display works. It gets power. But the HDMI signal for the main display only arrives when the playfield display's HDMI cable is not connected. Once both HDMI cables are connected to the Pinsound board, the main display gets no signal at all (and shuts down after a few minutes) and the playfield display gets the signal for the main display.
I checked all the cables and all the connectors. All wiring is done as shown in the instructions.
I even reinstalled the software (SD card and USB stick).
The error remains.
I suspect the new Pinsound board that I paid a lot of money to replace. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility that some switch on the board has to be flipped.
Unfortunately, despite repeated requests, I no longer receive any support from Pedretti or from Pinsound.
Can someone help with some advice here?
Thanks very much!

I made three videos to illustrate the problem:

Video 1: reinstalling FH 2.0 (with small display disconected)

Video 2: Starting FH 2.0 (with small display disconected)

Video 3: Starting FH 2.0 with connected main- and playfield-Display: Problem: no signal on main-display!

#2613 11 months ago
Quoted from pinballinreno:

maybe the small display is bad?
hook it to a laptop via the hdmi and see if it works?

tried before, tried just now:
No problem:

Quoted from UVAJED:

Try to swap the HDMI cables between the ports on your Pinsound board with both displays hooked up.

swaped HDMI and than turnen on the pin.
Brings me two black Displays.

#2615 11 months ago

swapping hdmi while running brings two black Displays also but on the large display the "no signal" text is blinking wildly.
"normaly" it is just there, not blinking.
thats the only effect

#2619 11 months ago

In fact, the jumper was on the left.
I have now put it in the middle, as can be seen in your picture.
Unfortunately, that doesn't change anything about my problem.
The pinball behaves exactly as before.

I've already swapped out the HDMI cables. Without effect.
But I can try again tomorrow.

#2703 10 months ago

Hi
could one of you confirm something for me?

The jumper on the LVDS board (where the HDMI cable goes in - at the back of the main display) goes in the middle, right?

Could you confirm that for me?
The reason I'm asking is that I got a new display unit (after quite a few problems) and then later a new LVDS board as well (among other things).
As far as I remember, the jumper was on the right side (seen from the player) when it was delivered.

I currently have it (after replacing the display again) in the middle position.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could confirm that that's where it belongs.

greeting
Patrick

I just want to say thank you!
My funhouse 2.0 works completely again.
Namely because of the great support from Shawn from the pedretti support team.
He never gave up on my funhouse, even though it was really complicated stuff sometimes.
Also a big thank you to Jonas Kiss for the support.
And last but not least Nicolas from pinsound.
I'm very impressed with the support.
Thanks alot!!!

Now that my funhouse is finally running perfectly again (on your latest software), I installed the Autoplunger yesterday.
Now the game is nearly perfect.
It's a lot of fun to see the autoplunger in action during gameplay. Unfortunately, this is only the case during multiballs. It would be nice if the Autoplunger was also activated when the ball was saved. And gladly also when a new ball has to be brought into play after a ball lock.
I would find it smoother then. But opinions may differ. Perhaps the additional Autoplunger events could be optionally activated in the menu.

Anyway, you did a great job!
Thanks a lot for this!!

Little things in the programming sometimes lead to discrepancies.
For example, I lost both balls in monkeyz multiball and the pinball machine somehow didn't register it.
The ball search is definitely missing here.
I waited a few minutes, but nothing happened.

Here are a few pictures of my auto plunger:

Neither nor.
I assembled it from different parts, a forum member in my German pinball forum had already built it that way and posted pictures.
It's a little fiddly but doable.

I always had to reinstall sd and usb on my fh for it to work.
seems that it depends a bit on the individual machine.
And I always formatted the USB stick completely, not "fast".
Then the update works pretty reliably for me.

Quoted from FrankJ:

Thank you for giving us the option of turning off the video mode! It’s been a year, and many have tried to explain it to me, but it still makes no sense to me. Maybe it should be replaced with one easier to understand in future updates.

I really like the videomode (you have to hold the flipperbuttons a short time to be sure it works).

I haven't installed the update yet because I'm on vacation. But if I understood it correctly, you can now disable the video mode in the menu.

Wouldn't it be best to do it like sttng with the videomode so you can choose to play it or not in the game (and then get a low score if you chose not to play it)?

So everyone who plays had the choice to play or skip it.

look at Page 55 here in this thread for some examples.
it's really not Hard to do it on your own and it is definitly a game changer!

Just enable the auto plunger in the Settings after installation.
Works pretty fine, a game changer in multiball. I heard about Problems in connection with an installed shaker. but in my mashine my home brew Auto plunger brought fun as hell.

Yeah, good eye.
But don't worry,
it is the "same".
I used two different cables that I had left over and connected them...
it's a loooong way up to the coil

yellow-red-white at knocker and yellow-grey-white at coil are the same

So are you showing me that you bent the apron metal up? Hard to tell from pics.

You can bend it inwards, bend it outwards (like I did), saw it off, remove the Shooterlane Apron metal part (don't know the name) completely (it's just screwed on)... but these two metal parts have to go, otherwise the autoplunging won't work.

I put together a part list at US suppliers for those of us in the US. Does this look accurate to you? The coils I was not sure if an exact model match is needed. I noticed yours is AE-23-800-00,3. The ones I found don’t match exactly. Do you think the stern one will work?

And for the wiring, looks like you tapped one wire from the knocker and then ran another from the auto plunge coil to the adjacent slingshot coil? What gauge wire if you remember?

Looks all good.
The coils you picked out should work.
I don't know the gauge wire anymore.
comparable to the cables on the other coils should do the trick.
