I just finished putting my Party Zone back together after a restore. I left in on in the shop while I was finishing up assembling the coin door. At about the 1 hour mark I smelled it. Something was wrong with the game. I turned it off and began the search. About an hour later I found it. Thank God it wasn't the power driver board. Just a stupid LED. Feel free to share your "what's burning" stories.

Well this happened tonight. The GI’s were out and so was the back glass on my Hyperball and there was a slight aroma. Then I saw sparks on the power supply......yeah. Last night it was Black Hole and the driver board. What the hell is going on?!

Only 1 I can think of is elbow on soldering iron.

<edit> Was working in a reimport 18wheeler (220VAC everything) and the damn flourescent light transformer went into meltdown and let lots of smoke out the vent on the top. </edit>

Unlike every other 444 wedge bulb in pinball, the topper lights on Whitewater run on 12v, not 6v. So what happens if you plug in regular 444 wedge 2smd LEDs? They melt! Took me hours to just get these out of the sockets but everything was working 100% before I sold it.

    New to me STTNG.

I got it working, and started to check switches to see what needed to be addressed.

As I was looking at the scoop, I thought to myself “wow that’s a pretty neat lighting effect”. Only to realize it was smoke from a toasted coil.

The tie back mod had not been done on the game yet, and based on the 8 driver board, this wasn’t the first time it had happened.
