So, I had a small tournament at my house with a couple of non pinheads.

They enjoyed all the pins but after the tournament, when I asked what game they enjoyed the most, I was a little surprised about
the 2 clear winners. (ps! they are all ca 40 years old and played a little bit in bars in 92-93 when the last big pinball boom happened )

I think that it is always fun to see what game people who know nothing about pins and their rules think is the most fun to play after just a few plays. I had a tournament like this a few months ago and the clear winner then was Attack From Mars. No surprise there. This time the answer was a bit more surprising to me

I will let the poll go for a couple of days before I reveal the answer.

Edit: I will have a similar tournament with the same pins and some other people this weekend so it will be fun to compare.

Hard to say, most of the games you noted are not common.

AC/DC and wh20 are allways a hit with non pin heads around here.
TZ they just don't understand and they are never ready for the ball to come out of the slot machine.

At my house it's RFM that's popular with non-pinheads.

PotC

Keep the votes coming.

Also great to hear what others have experienced in this regard.

I agree about star Trek. I had a premium for awhile and that was really popular.

Not too shabby voting.

The correct answer was Paragon and Pinball Magic. Paragon because it was easy to understand and looks uber cool.
Pinball magic was mostly because of the theme, sounds and dots, I think.

I would have voted Addams in there for sure, if I didn't know the answer.

I thought you were asking in general, I didn't realise you meant at your place.

I had some friends over a few weeks ago to play my little collection. They all enjoyed POTC (hit the thing... hit the thing...) and Bullwinkle (fun sounds and great ramps) and some enjoyed the challenge of Jet Spin (EM's are slower and have specific charm) But they all haaaaaaaaaaated Tales of the Arabian Nights (which is my favorite).

I warned them that Jet Spin plays like an old pickup truck and POTC and R&B play like a reliable Honda, but TOTAN is a Lamborghini that requires finesse and fast reaction time if you want to stay in control.

Sorry for the confusion, Atomicboy. I blame my language skills

Topmoose. I have found that telling guests (especially after a few beers) what is a great title, have very little effect on their choice regarding favorites

It is a fun social study to watch them play and see what game they get pumped up by, though

Paragon was a huge, huge hit, but I have it set up pretty easy. They all thought that game had a ton to shoot at, considering the age of the machine. (and I loved watching them get double flipper bitched )

This is why a good line-up can bring non pinheads into the hobby. I may think that my TAF is all that but newer (and older) players don't understand all that is going on and go to my EM machine or when I have one of the what I call Goofy machines like TMNT that are not really that great as far as deepness and toys but they are goofy fun. I had my 13 year old niece over and I found it funny that she could not get enough of TMNT pinball over everything else.

Quoted from Jesterfunhouse:

They're kind of a big deal with kids.

STLE is the one game in my collection that the non pinheads always seem to gravitate towards. Usually gets the most repeat plays when people are trying out every game.

Pinbot has always been a surprise hit, the only non-DMD in my main room, and gets top 3 attention every time.

Small sample, but my brother and father-in-law are not pinheads but LOVE my ST:TNG.

At my place in Michigan, all I have is Pinbot. Plenty of non pinheads (kids and adults) have enjoyed playing that one, but it's the only game there.

Since my wife's started coming out with me to play pinball, she's become a fan of Whitewater, Medieval Madness, Mousin' Around, and Now (an EM from '71).
