Hi Gang,

Hoping some more experienced people could help with my question.

The flippers, mostly the left one was noisy so I have replace both of them with a "Full Flipper Assembly For Modern Stern Machines" from Pinballlife.com.

It fixed the noise and worked great however its now starting to make the humming noise again on the left flipper after 6 of 8 weeks.

Before I start pulling them apart, does anyone have any recommendations as to what the problem could be as it was a full kit I put in on both sides so the problem maybe coming from somewhere else?

Any ideas or is this just normal on the older machines?

Thanks in advance, Mark

Flipper hum is normal on stern machines.

It's their shitty pwm single wind coil system. It's the same problem ems have. The only solution on them is to make sure your coil stop is perfectly aligned (so that the shaft makes complete contact, and to maybe replace the stop and shaft as they've probably become worn a bit. The less of a perfect 'meeting' the two parts have the louder the hum will be

Wasn't there a problem with the coil stops falling apart too soon?
