Hi,
I bought that expensive dome replacement for the FT topper, but no foil at the top like the original.
I tried pulling off the one from my old dome, but figured I could do it without heat and I messed it up.
I'm sure this kind of material is available off the shelf for some other application somewhere, but not sure where I'd find it.
Anybody ever find a proper replacement for this?

Try aluminum tape. I heard it works great for this.

I've meant to make one for my FT. I have some shiny metallic self stick vinyl that should do the trick. I just need the measurements so I can cut it properly...

If you've peeled yours off, give me the measurements and PM me your address and I'll send you a piece to try out.

When I replaced my dome, it didn't have the foil on it so didn't realize it needed something until later.

Sounds like a good deal! I'll see if I can even scan it so you have the exact shape... I'll try to get around to doing that sometime this week.

At the price these go for and how much it would probably cost in material, I wish they'd take care of that for us...

I recently purchased that from classicarcades.
The decal he sent me was 26" by 5 1/2".
I cut it in half and installed it on my cab underneath the bulbs.

Is this what you're talking about?

Yes! Another 20$ down the drain...

Thanks for the tip, man!
SilverballNut, would you still like a scan?

#8 9 years ago

Sure if you get around to it I'll take a scan. I still need to either cut one or buy one for mine (and take it back off to install).

Thanks

Was this a stock item on WH2O? Mine does not have that it it doesn't like there ever was one installed.

I'm not sure if it was stock.
My original cabinet had 1 there.
I think it serves as a protector of the cab from the hot bulbs.
It also helps the lamps shine on the waterfall making it look even more alive.

Some people use mirrors there instead of the tape.

#12 8 years ago

My thoughts are that it isn't stock (the reflective tape)

Mine has a metal bar that reflects the lights up to the waterfall. They seem to be sometimes missing. I think the reflective tape was an attempt to address a wh20 with a missing metal bar reflector (which was stock ... I think)

I do have that strip up there, and it's the same material as the top of the dome and it doesn't look handmade. My machine is a routed import, and it doesn't look like anybody would have went out of their way to do this kind of mod.
BTW, still haven't received my sticker, I'll scan it for you when I get it SilverballNult.

I don't think my WH2O has that in place (and now I am gonna have to confirm) and I know it has nothing like that on the dome either. Is there supposed to be a reflective sticker on the top of the dome?

Maybe it's just FT though.
I had assumed WW too, but maybe it makes more sense with FT since it's supposed to be underwater.

#17 8 years ago

You can see it on this picture from IPDB:

No such thing on WW as you can see here, from IPDB as well. Then it's settled, only FT has it.

Finally got around to scanning this thing.
As bballfan stated, the measurements are 26" by 5 1/2".

And here's how the corner radius look.
