FT Matrix Switch Issues

I've have some issues with my FT switch matrix. Basically when the Test Report shows up I get the following....

GND Short Row 4
GND Short Row 6
GND Short Row 7
GND Short Row 8

Reading through the forums I tried some of the suggestions. If I unplug J212, J206, and J209 all the stuck rows in the Switch Edge test go away.

If I take a short wire and connect J206 Pin 1 to J209 Pin 1 I see all of Row 1 showing connection,

If I connect J206 Pin 1 to J209 Pin 2 I get all of Row 2 showing connections.

I'm not sure if I should be seeing individual switches actuated or entire rows.

What other suggestions would you have me try?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you have a board problem. I would guess there is alkaline damage to your CPU board.

I think your right in the board possibly being bad. Most likely the 337 or the other circuitry.

My biggest question is my reasoning correct that if I bridge those pins I should see a single switch test fire and not the entire row?

Thanks

Yes, a single switch would show, not a full row.

U20 and/or some of the LM339s are mos likely blown on the MPU board.
Assuming no alkaline corrosion on the MPU, this is a straightforward repair for an experienced tech...not so much if you don't have the tools, technique, and experience.

Send it to a pro to:
...socket U20 and replace if necessary
...socket and replace other failed parts like the LM339s
...replace J210 power header (for reliability)
...replace C31, again for power reliability
...socket and install NVRAM to eliminate the risk of batteries leaking forever.

I can take care of that if you'd like. See contact link below. LMK.
