So last weekend, I went and picked up a GORGEOUS X-Men LE Magneto (#38). Check my post history to see my comments on my experience buying and everything - it was incredible! So that's why I feel sort of odd putting this up for sale. Like, almost dirty. But I think this makes sense for me I guess, ha.

I think most of us have this moment in the hobby at least once, no? I bought the game, played it a bunch for this first week...But realized this is NOT the game for me. The game is a blast to play. It flows so incredibly well, beats you up, challenges, and keeps you working HARD to succeed.

But!

It's not Tron. And Tron is what I want...Bad. So I'd like to try and sell this guy to fund a Tron purchase. I know I'll get a lot of comments regarding how good or bad of an idea that is, but I guess that's my decision to make! I've had a LOT more hands on with Tron...I don't know why I didn't just buy Tron first. But I went with a weird gut instinct saying, "No, X-Men is SO MUCH DEEPER."

Heh, go figure that I don't care about that nearly as much as I thought. Deep ruleset does not equal longevity in my home. Also, the music in Tron. Oh, and the fact that Tron means a lot to me and my wife. Like, a LOT.

So anyways, that's where I stand. The machine is IMMACULATE (the gentleman whom I picked the machine up from can attest to that). The only thing about it that shows any sort of wear is that Wolverine's paint is starting to wear on his belt. I'd be happy to repaint him for you since that's sort of what I do as a hobby (painting figures and scale modelling). Also, I did cut the holes for the Wolverine remount. However, I wasn't happy with the leaf switch after the remount, so I moved him back (Iceman ramp cleared fine since my Wolverine sits low). Someone with more experience tending to and shopping games would probably be able to tweak the switch in a jiffy.

Since the game has been in my hands, there have been 300 balls played (at time of photos). I am going to play a few more tonight just because I have beer and I'm bored. Also, I'm super anal. I've cleaned the glass every time I take the glass off for whatever reason, and I have used Novus 1 twice since having it to clean up any little dust that has shown up. I hate when things don't look perfect. I told myself to clean it every 5-10 days. So...

The current list of mods:

Flipper Fidelity Sub
Flipper Fidelity Enhanced Animated Backglass LED kit
Flipper Fidelity Speaker Lights
Acrylic X Speaker Cover
Mirror Blades
Brand new purple flipper rubbers
Cliffy scoop and shooter lane ball eject protectors (not installed yet)

Please PM me with any questions you may have. $5000 without mods (I would keep the shaker, sub, and backglass and speaker light kit...Mirror blades, and speaker cover stay). $5300 with all mods. I'm happy to take a video or get additional pictures.

Regarding shipping, I'd be happy to ship, but you'll have to arrange it/work with me to get it arranged.

All that bro and no price? Do tell.

X-Mag is a great game. Sorry it didn't work out for ya and I hope you can score a Tron soon. GLWTS

#3 10 years ago

Oh man, I am so sorry. Adding price now!

E: Yeah, game is INCREDIBLE. If I can't sell and get a Tron, I won't be totally bummed. But I just love Tron SO incredibly much.

#4 10 years ago

Looks nice. Very fun game.... So is Tron I like them both. Good luck in your search and with your sale.

#5 10 years ago

Wish I had the cash played it at CP pinball last week very fun game.

#6 10 years ago

Thanks - yeah, game is a BLAST. I just...Want Tron, haha. Much more my style.

#7 10 years ago

Magneto is IMHO the best looking X-Men edition. Tron is IMHO awesome. Here's hoping everyone can be happy!

The Enhanced Backglass makes it even more insane. I should take a video to show that off...

If you were here in the Great White North, I'd take if off your hands. GLWS

I actually had a guy want to buy something from me in Canada on another website...I really don't like dealing with shipping to your country. It was so frustrating!

I own #198 and absolutely love it! Great game and even better since the update.

Quoted from rs812:

I didn't play prior to the 1.5 update, but I DID hear it was rough. I think part of my problem is that I have a single pin collection at the moment, so I need to sort of cater to that aspect of it, too.

#13 10 years ago

I have played both Tron and Xmen and I think they are both really fun games. First time I played tron it was an LE and it didn't really strike me as great. 1st time I played x-men LE. I really liked it. I have now however played both LE and Pro models of both and like both pretty well... close race IMO, but one thing I don't like about x-men is hitting magneto all of the time... that target always seems a bit close for my taste, but still fun. Just takes awhile to get used to the layout. (for any pin that applies I guess though)

#14 10 years ago

Speaking purely about the game play itself, I feel like X-Men is probably the better game. There is just SO much going on, and it's really awesome to hit the different combos and get the neat callouts associated with them (Brain Freeze is my current favorite). I love starting Villain Mode with Weapon X Multiball ready. Sentinels + Weapon X = points and mode completion! Also, Iceman ramp is still my favorite shot ever. If I don't end up selling it, I'm not sure I'll EVER make it to the wizard mode - it is SO ridiculously tough!

But, even though Tron is a shallower game in terms of rules, I just find myself drawn to it...

#15 10 years ago

I hear you brother. I didnt really care for ACDC (pro or LE) much the first couple of times I played it and absolutely loved my Avatar pro machine... now after owning Avatar for about a year and ACDC pro for about 7 months my opinion has shifted. The excitement of ACDC (especially with shaker) is pretty amazing. Even though ACDC is faster I have a lot longer ball times with ACDC and higher scores. Avatar is still great IMO, but at one point Avatar was likely never to leave the house... and now it might be the other way around. (like a lot of others... only have so much $$ and space which is limited to 2 in my personal situation)

#16 10 years ago

Just wanted to update...

The price I have listed is the price to come pick it up. I have had a bunch of folks ask if I could come down because they have to drive to me. Sorry, but no. I didn't get a discount for driving 4 hours to pick it up when I got it.

#17 10 years ago

Oh I want to pull the trigger. I should have bought the Wolverine at the TPF for $5,100. dang dang dang oh well GLWTS and here is a bump!

#18 10 years ago

If it weren't for the mods, I'd go down a bit. But these are relatively expensive upgrades, hence the price. Thanks for the bump!

#19 10 years ago

Bump for a fellow IPPLer

Hope you find your Tron!

Thanks - hoping I can at least sell and find a Tron. I'd love a trade with some cash thrown in if needed, but whatever works haha.

You might want to remove the "OBO" part from the thread title then?
Somewhat confusing.

#28 10 years ago

The banging noise of the spinner heard in the gameplay vid can be fixed with an eclip to shim the slop out of the spinner shaft. Costs about $.10

Are you going to Allentown?

Yes on the shaker, and you mean the light up one? If so, yes.

#31 10 years ago

Here's two pics of the backbox. Maybe this will answer the question since I'm not 100% sure, haha.

If I had money for two pins right now, I'd probably keep this and just buy the Tron outright. The game is a ton of fun and has SOOOO much going on. But like my first post said, since I don't, I have to go with the one that I think will give me more value right now. And I also agree that X-Men is probably the better game in terms of gameplay, rules, and strategy. When I type it out, it seems silly that I'd trade it for a Tron. But then I remember how much I love the movie and the theme and the music. It's all personal preference I guess!

But I say it again - I'll own another X-Men one day. Just gotta wait a few years after the wife gets her kitchen remodel that we agreed to after I bought my first pin, ha.

I'll entertain some offers with/without mods, etc. I guess I could take it out to see how people respond. But getting offered $4000 or $4200? Haha well, no.

Quoted from dannunz:

Are you going to Allentown?

Sadly, I will not be able to make it this year. Wife and I have a LOT going on right now...Maybe next year though! Hopefully the game is sold by then and a Tron is in it's place!

Quoted from rs812:

Oh? Any info on this? I'd love to fix it before I sell it so the new owner doesn't have to deal with it, haha.

Sorry for the multiples posts in a row. I was on my phone earlier.

Better on paper ≠ better for you, you're making the right move, get the game that makes you feel passionate, not the one with the deepest rules. Tron may not have as much "stuff" as X-Men, but it's a fun and challenging game that keeps you coming back for more.

That's exactly right. I love X-Men, but it's not the game for me right now.

Also, in looking at some pictures, it appears as though my speakers are lit (you can see in some pics above), so it does have speaker lighting installed.

#35 10 years ago

Over lunch, I took this photo. I've contacted Terry at Pinballlife already. It's the upper flipper. They came in wonderful condition, but I just noticed it was torn. I'll probably put the black one back on this because playing with a torn flipper seems like a bad idea. If she sells before I get a replacement, I'll go ahead and mail it to you once I get it.

Gonna see if anyone bites overnight at $5400. Going to be heading to Ohio on Saturday near Columbus. So if you're near there (or want to meet off 70 on my way), you can get some free delivery!

Really? This pin is SO limited & SO good,it should sell for twice what your asking! Someday people will figure it out,but until then, let the bull shit continue.

No really, game is wonderful. But I've already outlined why I prefer to sell now. We will see though!

Backed out of a trade + cash for a NIB Tron (because I can't stomach loosing that much), so I'm not heading anywhere this weekend. Game is back to you have to pick up (unless we work something out, ha).

HUO are going for significantly less. I think the NIB part is what drives the price up - because it's, well, new.

E: I should add, I don't care if the Tron has mods or not. I just want it to be HUO.
